I couldn't agree more. AA will not tear down this core he will retool and try again next year. If the Jays are still way out of it at the deadline AA should trade off some vets and make space for Gose and the young pitchers to get playing time. There is no reason to lose 90 games this year and not know what your young talent can bring to the table next season.
AA has always said the goal was always 3 trips to the playoffs over the next 5 years (well basically 4 now). The Jays were always better primed to contend in 2014 when their pitching depth (Hutch, Drabek, Perez, Nolin, Stroman, Stilson, Jenkins) are actually ready to step in to MLB roles and young and AA has another offseason to add complementary pieces in FA. Obviously trying to go from a fringe .500 team to a WS contender didn't work, it's time for AA to take a step back and say, "My team needs changes to contend. What do I need to add to my team's core (EE, Jose, Dickey, Morrow, Reyes, Lawrie, Buehrle) to get there?"
