Because Jays COTFs always fail. It's the kiss of death... Now we can only hope that he gets converted to 1B and learns to hit homers a-la Carlos Delgado.

D'oh, my mistake, I was looking at his GCL numbers, not his NOR numbers... Hard to say anything without anything but the numbers in front of me, but he doesn't seem to be walking anyone so far, so that's a good thing. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=571616 is about all I can use at this point. Personally, I would hope that he stays as a starter as long as possible in the minors and convert him to a reliever if and when that's deemed the best thing for him, it's pretty rare for a guy to move all the way up the ranks as a reliever, usually they're a starter for a bunch of levels and converted around AA/AAA. Of course, that's not always the case.

That would be pretty foolish. They're limited by the league to what they can shell out for international bonuses, so they should be hitting their cap every year. What's interesting, however, is that bonus pool money can be traded, so it's possible that AA is using that to sweeten some sort of trade pot (though, as a guy who loves getting talent into the system, I'd hate to see that happen...) Also, it's July 2nd, get a move on guys!

I personally haven't seen any Vancouver games live, but we often have people who watch games and offer opinions. Seemed to have a pretty decent line in a short start though. 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1K 0 BB. He's starting, so that's a good sign, but he'll obviously need to be stretched out before we see if he stays as a starter or moves to relief. Matt Dermody. IowaJay was in another thread discussing him. Pretty fun to have relatives of players around, offering a look that we don't typically get.

I would be 100% for this. Again, I use the AJ Burnett comp. JPR signed him 7 years ago for $55 M. Burnett was older (29 v 26), and the value of pitching has gone up since then. Of course, Burnett did have an MLB track record, but this is a risk I would take if it were my decision.
