If I rephrased it to "paid as though he were expected to be the #1 pitcher for the 2014 Toronto Blue Jays, but with the understanding that there are higher paid pitchers of varying quality around the league" make you feel better? Motherf***er is paid as though he should be the best pitcher on this team. -
Morrow has more years as a starter than as a reliever, and has better numbers as a starter than as a reliever overall... There is no "Morrow was at one point an 'ace reliever' but the Jays converted him into a starter" argument to be made. He's been inarguably more valuable as a starter than a reliever.

3rd highest salary on the Jays this season, highest for a pitcher... He makes 2 million less than David Price... He's getting a stupid amount of money that is not at all relative to any reasonable expectation of what an old man with a bad back can do on a baseball diamond.

This will get lost in the EE elation (BTW, yay EE, you are pretty good at baseball!) but... One was a young centrefielder with a history of borderline MVP seasons who looked to have a lot left in the tank who was resigned by his own team (albeit for a ridiculously stupid contract that should have resulted in at least 15 people being fired and the sacrifice of at least 200 chickens to Jobu)... The other is an old as f***ing f*** pitcher who throws a trick pitch in the NL for whom far too many prospects were given up. Both were crazy, retarded moves but in completely different ways and with completely different reasonings behind them.

Yeah, unless he's got a wife and kid already... That can be really hard on a family. Not a lot. It scales with level, but I think they start out at <$1500/month or so (I'm basing that off my memory, so I could be off...) plus about $10/day per diem when they're on the road. -

It's one of the weird things about Lawrie, he doesn't even try to steal, and he's a speedy motherf***er, so I really don't get it at all.

I don't really recall it that way, I think people were skeptical but not totally against it (I know that was my take on the situation)... Though, I think most were pretty sure Francisco would be much more of a butcher at third than he has been.

With the current make up of this roster, Lawrie at second against righties is a no brainer.
