  1. They signed Smoak using the same metrics (I assume) that they signed Morales and traded for Grichuk, exit velocity for days.
  2. Also, I would like to point out that there were 22 home runs hit during the World Series in 2017... Including 8 in game 2...
  3. Honestly, at this point, I'd prefer Solarte @ 3B and Donaldson at DH than Donaldson at 3B and Morales at DH... Maybe Morales has a good season, and I hope he does, but right now I'd rather Solarte in the line-up.
  4. So... you think that Rogers corporate is so involved in day-to-day stuff that they're like "you have to bury that report on Donaldson's throwing arm! It will SERIOUSLY mess with our bottom line!"
  5. Okay, and... he has far less access to information than the manager of the team has. Also, if you'll recall, Gibby said JD would PROBABLY start at 3rd. I mean, there's not really much to gain by having JD start at third v/ as the DH, Solarte is been doing a fine job there, so rushing him would make no sense at all.
  6. Hitting a fly-ball to the outfield is the thing most people associate with bringing a runner home from 3rd with fewer than 2 outs. Which is achieved by trying to hit the ball hard. The issue was that we had a bunch of s***** players that weren't going to make contact regardless of what they tried to do. Last year, it wasn't uncommon for us to field a lineup where 6/9 players were well below average. That shouldn't be a problem this year, even if they do try to hit the ball hard in most situations.
  7. "Guy on Twitter" vs/ "Guy who is a Professional Baseball Manager".
  8. The reason we ended up where we did last year was because Donaldson, Tulo, Martin & Travis all were hurt for a significant amount of time, Bautista apparently died and nobody noticed, and Goins, Barney, Zeke and [insert random terrible backup catcher here] were given FAR more at-bats than they ever should have been... I mean, it's not like Goins, Barney and Zeke were out there trying to hit home runs, and they still stunk up the joint far worse than Martin would have, even if he was "trying to hit a home run every at bat" (which, BTW, he definitely was not trying to do. Generally "try to hit the ball hard" is a big part of baseball...)
  9. We are over .500 for the first time since 2016!
  10. Hrmm... looks like Lopez was pitching well, and when the pitchers aren't on, we're actually hitting/walking...
  11. And we haven't started our annual OriolesHangout thread?
  12. Bummer? f***, this guy must have had a really, really hard time in grade school.
  13. He's been good from the left side too, though...
  14. Damn, I thought that was in the gap off the bat, just hung up a bit too long.
  15. Honestly, with 1st base open? Definitely.
  16. What? That was a risky move that paid off, and Travis has looked good all year, that would have been a highlight reel catch if he'd made it.
  17. Man, all three of those fly balls had great sound off the bat, even though two of them were not well hit.
  18. JUUUUST under that pitch, sounded great coming off the bat...
  19. *sigh* Okay, that was a pretty shite inning, but hopefully their pen shits the bed.
  20. It's not really texting and driving when you're on a donkey...
