At this point to spend much money on a high profile free agent would be a waste for the Jays because they simply have too many holes to make a run this year.

This is how you get to a world series win. Often teams make the playoffs multiple times in consecutive years before they finally win the world series. Oakland will finally do it this year after coming close in previous years. The Jays will need a few more years of at least making the playoffs before they will win a world series. They are where oakland was a few years ago. It would be considered a victory if the jays just make a wild card but anything less than a world series win for oakland would be unacceptable.
