  1. Honestly I think we're better off with a slightly expanded bench come playoff time since we only need four starters anyway. I wouldn't mind a fifth bench piece instead of an eighth reliever. Osuna Grilli Ben wah Biagini Cecil Liriano Plus another lefty. I don't really trust anybody else we would have in that seventh spot right now. Schultz I guess would be the best option currently but I'd rather not have to watch him groove a fat meatball in October.
  2. I still wouldn't mind a third lefty option to go with Cecil (brutal year) and Liriano (never really been a reliever and despite his solid splits is a pretty big question mark coming out of the pen). I would have to believe Shartkins agrees and are doing their due diligence.
  3. This may be true and it's extremely sad. Although, after Smoak's last start against a lefty, I would put him back in there just to see if you can squeeze two decent games out of the guy all year.
  4. Yeah Travis 9th and Pillar 7th is pretty stupid, but honestly, this lineup isn't horrible. I've seen a lot worse from Gibby.
  5. The fact that we've had three different names mentioned multiple times is pretty awesome. Up until his last two starts, there would have likely been some votes for Estrada as well.
  6. Why are we even talking about their undershirts?
  7. Tragically I still don't know if he gets into the HoF. Dude has always been criminally underrated.
  8. WTF. Navarro is going to be here in a couple days. If you really need to rest Martin, why not do it when you don't have to play Thole?
  9. Is he a FA after the year?
  10. Sounds about right.
  11. What's going on with McGuire and Ramirez? Haven't seen their names in the NH lineup the last few times I've checked.
  12. Two. 54 games left with Sanchez scheduled for the second game gives him 11 more starts. With a six-man rotation, each guy gets nine starts the rest of the way.
  13. I don't know if bullpen sessions can be compared to live action though. Wouldn't pitching in games be considered more "high stress" than tossing in the pen? Everyone seems to be making a big deal about not necessarily only the number of innings, but also about the stress level of said innings.
  14. Pillar hitting fifth makes me feel ill.
  15. I have to wonder what the consensus is as to who the more useful 25th man is at this point:. Zeke or Goins? I suspect come playoff time it'll be Pompey, but for now, who do you take assuming it's one of the two?
  16. I laughed too. So assuming we run with 13 position players... Martin Thole Edwin Smoak JD Tulo Travis Barney Saunders Pillar Jose Melvin and....Zeke? Do we still need Zeke? Or is there a chance Goins comes back?
  17. Upton can be a pretty useful player if used properly. Even when he's not starting he can be used as a defensive replacement, pinch runner, pinch hitter in certain scenarios, etc. The guy does bring some skills to the table. Perhaps the best news out of this is this all but guarantees we don't have to watch the mushroom this year. Assuming Upton sees his share of starts in the outfield and pushes Jose/Saunders DH, Edwin to first and Smoke to the pine, there is absolutely zero room for Colabello.
  18. Yep. I've been thinking about this lately but 2016 JD >> 2015 JD and it's really not that close. That is absolutely freaking terrifying if you're the rest of the AL. His BB% has improved by 4.6%...that is huge. K% has decreased by 2%. OBP up by .044; SLG up by .034. wOBA up by .027. ISO up by .027. You get the picture. He's gotta be the frontrunner again for MVP at this point. Currently tied with Trout for first with 5.1 WAR and is on pace to finish at 9.8. It's pretty insane to think that this guy has improved on arguably the best year in Jays history. I realize there's still almost half a season left but to me it just looks like he's getting better and better almost daily.
  19. The only logical decision.
  20. Nah. Just feels good when you're referred to as a 'hockey fan' just because you have an opinion that goes against the grain. Feel free to give me a prize if you really want to though.
  21. Sell high on KP (ideally trade for a young, controllable #2/3 starter). Let the other four split time in the OF with Bautista starting to play more at 1b/dh.
  22. Looks like Gibby/Walker/AA are the only ones who agreed with me!
  23. No chance. Not with Stroman's gb tendencies.
  24. If we're down 2-1, do you use Price in game 4?
  25. Serious question: If Stroman dominates tomorrow and this series goes the distance, who pitches game 5? Price on five days rest or Stroman on regular rest? I would probably have to give the ball to Marcus. Price has been very average over his last three starts and Stroman just seems to be getting better and better.
