    I don't think a new thread has been posted all day. And the the last 2 threads have been reyes 16 errors.. and melk man wants to stay in Toronto but in reality he just had a standard response... Sometimes threads are not mind blowing interesting or detail new information, who cares. The fact that d'Arnaud was traded by the jays and how his numbers were so close to Navarro's notwithstanding framing I felt it warranted a thread.

    Its an easy call for the future, but somewhat debatable when looking at just this years stats exclusively and not including salary.

    Travis d’Arnaud- 93 GP .243/.306/.412 wRC+106 WAR 1.5 (1.7 OFF, 0.7 DEF) Dioner Navarro 123 GP .280/.322/.407 wRC+102 WAR 1.9 (-1.9OFF, 4.7 DEF) d’Arnaud is tied for the lead league in PB with 12 which accounts in large part for his low defensive WAR numbers. However he is known for being a great framer which is not included in the WAR calculation while we all know what kind of framer Navarro is and the framing statistics lean much in the favor of d’Arnaud. He has +82 calls for the season and an RAA of 10.9 while Navarro has -121 calls (1.36 per game) and a RAA of -16.1 which is good for fourth last in the MLB. Who would you rather of had for this year? Notwithstanding framing, they have had a very similar season according to the advanced stats. But with framing included, I think it’s safe to say d’Arnaud is the better player for the year.

    It will be interesting to see who Gibby goes with against righties. He will be probably start Colby the next game hoping he gets on a roll after that big HR. I would rather Rasmus, simply so we can have some speed on the bench. I don't expect much from either. Pillar probably plays lefties for remainder.

    It doesn't say he is going to be benched for remainder of the season, it just states he will see reduced playing time. If we somehow come closer to the remaining WC I could see him playing.

    Huh. His 12.5 % rate is obviously good but is higher than all of his walk rates in the minors , thus regression. Thought it would of been assumed 12.5 was high for Gose.

    His optimism hasn't abated. He categorically stated the jays are still in it and talk of the season being out of reach was nonsense. One of his better quotes of the night was him saying its not AA fault, all the blame should be on the players for not performing.

    First caller posed a lot of good questions and points. Wilner of course ignores anything related to AA and the overall direction of the team.

    The media will continue to harp on the young arms but they of course are being overly optimistic. None of the guys project to be a 1 or 2, and Sanchez will likely be a long man in the bullpen. Couple that with the fact that we have no positional prospects outside of Pompey for the next 2 years while our offense will continue the inevitable decline due to age, its safe to say with AA holding the keys we are destined for another decade of failure. We can only pray that someone with a brain somehow infiltrates this organization of stupidity and begins to change things around.

    He has had 142 AB at the major league level... Any opinion on Pillar is premature. But he undoubtedly deserves a second shot based on his numbers in the minors. BTW Bautista batted .206 in his first 150 AB in the majors.
