  1. Isn't that just a bunch of stars on the ground. But if not then its still dumb IMO. Most movie stars and singers are in the same group of athletes in terms of contribution.
  2. I just think statues are going too far. Banners, documentaries, retired jerseys #s or having players coming back and throwing out the first pitch I think are all good ideas and are sufficient enough to show appreciation for a player. If anything, keep the statues for guys like Martin Luther King, Gandhi, Mandela not a bunch of athletes who for the most part have contributed nothing to society except provide entertainment.
  3. Building statutes for anyone especially athletes is just dumb. Now that we know God doesn't exist, the whole idea of paying reverence to statues should be obsolete.

He also has the supporting cast. Duchene O'Reilly Landeskog and Johnson are all impressive. I could see them becoming what Chicago has been the past couple of years.

How good do you guys think MacKinnion will be. He showed some Crosby esque flashes last year and trained all summer with him. I think he he will be top 5 , if not this year than next. He and Mcdavid could become the next Sid and Ovi.
  6. I just wish someone would ask him something along the lines of "What do you think of N.Y and Miami trades now" or "How do you justify keeping your job when you have a worse overall record than J.P and substantially more money to acquire players".
  7. Did Sid ask any tough questions? He seems to be one of the only guys in Toronto sports media who has been openly critical of AA.
  8. Its a big risk, but if it pays off and Sanchez or Norris can have a 3 WAR season individually or combined and throw 200IP there is chance this team makes the playoffs. Especially if we resign Melky and pick up a decent ss or 2nd baseman. With Buehrle the risk is much lower but the reward is also lower as your spending 19 mill on a 3 WAR player which is certainly an over-payment.
  9. I think its fair to assume there wont be an increase in payroll. So if you get rid of Buehrle and his 19 mill contract, you hope the money is spent more effectively and either Sanchez or Norris can fill his spot.
  10. Jose Reyes is going to play ss everyday (except for a few days off which will make him a much better fielder). Payroll not available. Bench not a priority. Jays are not going to make playoffs. Jesus without those N.Y and Miami trades are future would looks so good right now too.
  11. I dont think he is purposely answering around the questions, I just think he's an idiot and cant maintain a consistent thought process and his mind just goes every where and goes on a bunch of tangents.
  12. Sanchez fastball command seems improved since his call- up

Politically correct society. The story should be how something so trivial becomes a story.
  14. This would look a lot better. - Marcus Stroman 10-6 ERA 3.80 xFIP 3.25 23 - Drew Hutchison 10-12 ERA 4.51 xFIP 3.87 24 - Henderson Alvarez 11-6 ERA 2.82 xFIP 3.51 24 - Daniel Norris (AAA) 3-1 ERA 3.18 FIP 2.21 21 - Noah Syndergaard (AAA) 9-7 ERA 4.60 FIP 3.70 22 - Justin Nicolino (AA) 14-4 ERA 2.85 FIP 3.44 22 - Anthony DeSclafini (AAA) 3-3 ERA 3.49 FIP 3.41 24 Had some time in MLB with 4.04 xFIP - Aaron Sanchez 28IP Relief 2-1 1.26 ERA 2.68 xFIP 22 - Kendal Graveman (AAA) 3-2 1.88 ERA 2.94 FIP 24 Plus d’Arnaud with 1.5WAR and impressive framing. 25 Hech with a 0.5 WAR and a salary of 2.2 Mill 25 Marisnick 55GP 0.3 WAR 23 Minus 53 Mill in salary from Reyes, Dickey and Buehrle and add about 10 Mill from who I added.
  15. He probably wont be our worst hitter either if Goins and Gose play everyday. Pillar/Gose platoon would work somewhat if they do retain Melky.
  16. I think the Jays will let Melky go and use Pillar instead. I agree with most of you said except for the lack of starting rotation depth. Happ, Norris, Nolin, Gravemen provides adequate depth.
  17. This is the first year he used his curveball more than his fastball. Also his wfb was - 0.6 compared to last years 2.6. Could mean nothing, or could mean he is on the track on relying too much on one pitch. We don't need another Santos.

Yes Chargers! I've liked them since Flutie left the bills.

Me and wife came home from a party one time. We were both highly intoxicated and not thinking straight. Emotions were running high and she ended up swinging at me. I was angry and instinctively swung back and knocked her unconsciousness. Right after the fact I felt very bad and wished I could take the punch back. When my wife awoke she took a glass of water and talked things over, we both acknowledged that we made a mistake but also realized tiredness and drinking played a role. We discussed the root of the problem and felt the next day that are marriage was stronger. Unfortunately there was someone outside our window the entire time. He taped the whole thing and sent it to my boss. The next day I was fired, my wife who was the initial victim feels as if she has been attacked twice...

"For all we know he told his wife not to testify or he would be the s*** out her again." If you actually believe this, then there really is no point in arguing with you. He has now married his girlfriend, she has acknowledged the role she played in the dispute and apologized, and neither of them pressed charges against one another. The kid worked his whole life to get to the NFL. In a heated moment he makes a mistake and both him and his now wife realize its not worth jepordizing his career over and don't go to the police. I actually wouldn't be surprised if this was his wife's idea. But of course the perversely motivated media and heavy hand of the law come in, ruin this kids life and ironically punish his wife who never wanted Ray suspended.

This may be an unpopular view but I think there is some merit in it. From the video I saw, his girlfriend initiates contact by what looks like two quick jabs to the face, and Ray responds with a half punch half swiping motion to keep her away. He then does the responsible thing and backs away presumably to avoid any further contact. After backing way his girlfriend quickly runs after him with her left arm back preparing herself to swing again. Ray then unfortunately takes a more direct a approach and swings more aggressively but in my opinion in a still somewhat restrained way I am not trying to justify Ray's actions or think he does not deserve any punishment. However I do believe this case is much different than lets say a situation where a man comes home drunk and decides to wail on his wife without restraint for no apparent reason. He does deserve to be suspended, 6 games in my opinion is sufficient, to be kicked out of the league like some of you are advocating I think is wrong.
  23. Where did you get those WAR stats, they seem to reflect the players results better. I was using Fangraphs columns of OFF and DEF before the final column of WAR.
  24. If you had posted the same post on the old forum it probably would have created a lot of discussion. lol At least your criticism is subtle.
