  1. If I'm not mistaken, with the double header against Cleveland tomorrow the Jays will have the opportunity to add a 26th man to their roster. Since they have an off-day on Monday they can throw Garcia and Happ without having to worry about Garcia making his next start on short rest. Here's hoping we see Donaldson back in the starting lineup for at least 1 of the games tomorrow!
  2. There was a recent write up about the Lansing roster by clutchlings over at Future Blue Jays, including this blurb on Kevin Smith: Drafted as a SS in the 4th round last year, Smith was sent to Bluefield as top pick Logan Warmoth, who plays the same spot, was sent to Vancouver. With Vicuna in Lansing’s lineup, Smith has seen more time at 3rd. He made the most recent edition of Baseball America‘s prospect hot sheet after slashing .433/.471/.933 this past week. Smith’s bat is absolutely on fire. He leads the MWL in Doubles, Total Bases, and RBI, and like Clemens, is among the leaders in several other hitting stats. Smith has a closed stance, and uses a slight leg kick. His head is still as the pitch approaches the plate, giving him good pitch recognition. He gets good extension and plate coverage on his swing as a result. If you were to ask which hitter on the Lansing roster looks the most like an MLB prospect, it would be Smith. He’s cut his K rate from almost 25% in Bluefield to just over 15% so far. Smith is also an efficient base runner (he’s a perfect 6-6 this year, and has stolen 21 bases without being caught as a pro), and he’s making the adjustment to playing 3rd. He’s had some troubles on pop ups down the LF line, as the different angle he has to take is probably taking some time to get used to. https://futurebluejays.com/2018/04/30/theres-another-team-to-watch-in-the-blue-jays-system/ Definitely worth the read.
  3. Thanks for coming out of retirement to make the GDT again
  4. How can they possibly justify giving Vladdy a 40 PV hit tool but Reese McGuire a 45 PV hit tool??
  5. I dunno. Grichuk is 126th in the MLB in hard hit % this season, almost a full 10% below his career average. Yes, he has had some hard hit balls hit directly at defenders, but hes also had lots of popups and weak grounders. Also, his LD% is down from 21% last season to 6% this year. Combine that with his 34% K rate this season and you can see his struggles go beyond simply being unlucky. Not to mention, anecdotally, that he's probably had the 2 worst AB's by a Jays hitter this year.
  6. Woooooooo Love this team
  7. If Morales needs to be activated, I guess you send Mayza down. When Donaldson is ready its gotta be Gift that gets optioned. Make the infield work with JD, Diaz, Travis, Solarte, Martin & Pearce.
  8. Teo is absolutely locked in right now!
  9. Love seeing the Ned Yost head shake as he walks out to the mound

  16. Axford's stuff is nasty when he can keep it in the zone
  17. If this was 2017 I'd be convinced that were going to lose this game. But its 2018 so lets get the f***ing bats going and win this thing!
  18. This game is so hard to watch right now
  19. You're right, that is a real insightful observation by Barker. The kind of intelligent, eloquent stuff we expect from him.
  20. Which is good for 122nd in the majors this season.. Wonder where this guy got his info from.
