  1. Holmes looks really good. They compared him to Bundy in that broadcast but he kind of reminds me of Fernandez with his combination of stuff and polish at a young age. Cease looks like he's playing catch with the catcher, just free and easy. The lack of a consistent breaking pitch holds him back though. I really liked what I saw from Aiken. That bender from the left side is ridonkulous. If he can gain some velo on that fastball (he's big and projectable) he could be a premium arm. Right now he relies mostly on polish and command though.
  2. Another reason to love Perfect Game! They've just posted the complete 2013 Perfect Game All-American Classic on Youtube. For those who don't know what that is, it's basically an All-Star game with all of the top prospects for next year's draft. The game took place in early August.
  3. Grant Holmes Dylan Cease
  4. You guys have to subscribe Steve Fiorindo on youtube. He's always got new vids on the top upcoming draft prospects. He also includes a velocity tracker on the top left hand corner of the screen for pitchers. Touki Toussaint Justus Sheffield
  5. Japhet Amador's numbers with Houston's AAA team: 21ab .429/.429/.429 3so Leonardo Heras' numbers: 22ab .318/.464/.636 1hr 5rbi 2(2b) 1(3b) 6bb 5so
  6. Really like DD. He reminds me a lot of Norris...er...I should say...Norris reminds me a lot of him. Hopefully that holds true.
  7. This is pretty much all I could find. http://www.bluejaysfromaway.com/on-the-lookout-rhp-miguel-castro/
  8. Miguel Castro has gone 2 innings so far for Bluefield with 1h 0er 0bb 3so. Kid has gone through 3 minor league levels (DSL, GCL, and now APL) in 1 year. He's 18 years and 8 months old.
  9. We moved up 2 spots to 8th without even playing a game. 1. Houston .333 2. Miami .374 3. Chicago C .421 4. Chicago W .424 5. Minnesota .432 6. Milwaukee .444 7. San Francisco .444 8. Toronto .448 9. Seattle .451 10. San Diego .451 11. Toronto (Comp)
  10. Forgot to mention Urena was 2-3 with a double and 2 walks today to bring up his average to .333 in the GCL.
  11. I didn't even realize Ventura was in AAA. Pitching well in the PCL too. On second thought, if they trade Shields they should be looking for a very good hitting prospect. Probably a right fielder like the one they traded away. Joc Pederson from the Dodgers or Nick Castellanos from Detroit could fit the bill.
  12. He reminds me so much of AJ Burnett. You have no idea what you're going to get from him from start to start, or from season to season. So frustrating.
  13. I would think Morrow + Happ + Stroman have more value than a Stroman + Gose package, especially since the Royals already have Cain in centerfield. My reasoning for including Morrow and Happ, was because the Royals will have virtually no pitching depth with Santana already set to bolt as a FA. If they also traded Shields this off season for anything that didn't include at least 1 major league ready arm, their rotation would consist solely of Jeremy Guthrie and Danny Duffy (who is coming off TJ and has never thrown more than 106 innings in the MLB), without much help coming by way of the farm for at least 2 more years. This way they would get two starters to help fill out their rotation, plus a high level prospect in Stroman or Norris. They could and certainly will get better offers I'm sure from other teams. But I'm measuring my offer against the value of the draft pick they would get for holding onto Shields, rather than what another team might offer.
  14. Yeah, see what he thinks would be a fair deal. I'd be curious to find out.
  15. I think it would make some sense for KC. Shields is a free agent after 2014. Happ and Morrow are signed to reasonable money through 2015 (13mm total). The prospect would probably have to be someone like Stroman or Norris though. Sheilds is a legit 2 starter in the East. Morrow and Happ are 3-4 starters who would give KC rotation depth for 2 years, plus a prospect with high upside like Stro or Norris. It would be imperative to lock up Shields if we gave up that much though.
  16. Okay, on a serious note. Sign Matt Garza for similar to what Anibal Sanchez got (16mm per). He doesn't cost a draft pick, is only 29, and is at least a very good 3 starter if not a 2 on a good team. Trade Morrow + Happ + Prospect for James Shields. Sign Shields to a long term contract. Qualify Johnson. Shields Garza Buehrle Dickey Johnson
  17. Buy out Lind. Let Johnson walk. Trade Santos and Morrow. Use savings to secretly hire sleeper cell terrorist group. Have them blow up Rogers Center. Collect insurance money. The end.
  18. We've fallen 3 spots and currently own the 10th and 11th picks. As long as we stay in the top 10 I'll be happy, but hopefully we can move back into the 5-6 range. 1. Houston .333 2. Miami .377 3. Chicago C .421 4. Chicago W .424 5. Minnesota .435 6. Milwaukee .439 7. San Francisco .447 8. Seattle .447 9. San Diego .447 10. Toronto .448 11. Toronto (Comp)
  19. Here comes the end of the year "loser rally" that takes us out of prime drafting position.
  20. I think we need to move some salary to give us more flexibility. Candidates: Santos (3.75mm) Cabrera (8mm) unlikely Morrow (8mm) + Happ (5.2mm) only if we use the savings to pursue an upgrade (Matt Garza?) Lind (7mm or 2mm buyout) Izturis (3mm) Romero (7.5mm) unlikely I think between Santos, Izturis, Happ we could scrape together at least another 12mm.
  21. I'm not sure about that though. Let's say you have a bonus pool of 3mm. If you spend 3 times that (so 9mm), that would give you about 3 years worth of talent in 1 year. That makes up for the 1 lost year you have the following season. As an example, let's say this year the Jays had ignored the tax this year and signed Torres, Jimenez, Encarnacion, Diplan, Perez, Molina, Gudino, Tejada, Ho-Tseng, etc. That's 3 years worth of talent. Then next year we could still trade our 3mm pool space (that we can no longer use) to a team for their competitive balance pick. It's ingenious. That would give us potentially 4 picks in the top 60.
  22. Tellez with another good game today: 2-3 with 2bb.
