    an incredible defensive player throws the baseball to the right base.....Gose is still developing defensively. Does Gose make wise decisions? Does Gose have an accurate arm? The answer to both those questions is no. I don't know how you could come to any other conclusion based on what you've seen of the guy. Those areas can potentially be improved upon. He's not an incredible defensive player at present time.

    you missed my point...I'm not a saber guy and many people quote stats with way too small of sample sizes, which I always complain about...and now people saber guys are making qualitative judgements about a guy when the statistics, however small they are, don't back that position up. It just seems funny to me.

    when it's the most important stat.....or are we recalling goins any day now after realizing our dumb mistake for characterising his play by solely looking at one stat.

    I specifically stated last year his defense was not gold glove caliber. Sure he made 5 errors, which is a lot for a full season let alone a month of playing time, but it was his decision making that was troubling. Having a strong arm does you nothing if you airmail the cut off man and throw home, when you should be cutting the runner down and throwing to second. I don't think Gose is a mentally strong player based on his hitting and his defense. He has the skills to be a good defensive player, but he has to show it before I'm going to anoint him a gold glove defender and his defense was not good last year. I'm shocked that everyone had conveniently wiped from their memory all the dumb mistakes this guy made in the field last year.

    not according to fangraphs he wasn't. Gose is a mental midget....he misses cutoffs, air mails home when he should be throwing to 2nd. Sure, he's fast. He has a strong arm, but he has one of the least accurate arms I've seen in a long time. Does he read the ball well off the bat? People seem to equate speed to amazing defense. The arm and decision making plays into the defense as well. Gose has the raw skillset to be a GG defensive player...but he certainly did not display good defense last year.
