This will be a tricky one. The obvious answer is to load Boxy with a couple front end MiLB picks come June. The counter to that is that it would be screwing the other owners over who hold top 5 picks. There's a big dropoff after the top 4/5 guys.
I hope we can find something that makes sense because I agree Boxy should be compensated. That's a massive blow.
Maddon is good, but it obviously won't sting nearly as much as losing Friedman. It took wizardry to make that team competitive year in and year out with a bottom 5 payroll every year.
The Pedroia trade is shocking to me. The pick upgrades are marginal (nothing in the top 30). Pedroia looks like he's fading out with very little left in the power/speed department. I like Kipnis as a rebound candidate.
I totally forgot that offer existed. I still wouldn't have done it though as ene of the main reasons for the Aramis trade was getting my team down to 20. That's why I preferred the pick/prospect route.
