I agree to a certain extent. As o2 mentioned, sometimes it can be over the top too much. I don't think 5 signs, then a mound visit should be allowed.

Fully agree. There's good points on both sides I guess. I think we all agree, pitchers taking 10 minutes between pitches is a huge issue.

However with that said, I don't think it's unreasonable that MLB is asking players to keep one foot in the box. I mean, you could think about the next pitch while keeping one foot in. Wtf is the big deal.

What are everyone's thoughts on the pace of game rules MLB is proposing? If you haven't seen them, they are here: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/12375199/mlb-explains-changes-pace-game-policy I like most of it, however one thing I didn't think about until Ortiz's rant today was that when a player steps out of the box, they are using this opportunity to think about what is coming up next, strategically. I didn't really think about that until he mentioned it, I just found it interesting and valid. Here's his rant:

The mere mention of JP makes me so happy that we have a guy like Martin now. Looking back, just all the drama JP brought was horrible for this team.

I agree with your post. My whole point was assigning blame at a certain point doesn't help, that's all.

I doubt public/fan/media support means anything at all anyways. Family and friends are the support system most people require.

Yeah, you could play back interviews from 2013 but replace "JP" with "Martin". Same exact responses.. But really, what else is the guy gonna say I guess..

First of all, that's not true. Most people with drug issues know they screwed up, years before. The fact of the matter is, people make mistakes. Assigning blame for starting in the first place really doesn't help someone immersed in it and who may have developed mental health issues.

Poor guy, it must be very hard to deal with something like this, beyond your control. I know people with drug problems, it's a legit mental health issue. It can take control of you. I wish guys like him nothing but the best, however it will be a struggle for the rest of his life. You can tell he's a decent guy too.

I don't get it. Everyone complains when guys give generic, cliche, responses. Then the same people moan when someone gives an honest, non-cliche, answer to a question asked. Just STFU already f***ing whiners.
