  1. The argument is always that you want to help this shitties teams get better, but that thinking isn't holding up in an era where team are ok with being reeeeeeeaaaaally bad for years to eventually compete. Also harder in baseball where it is really hard to make the plyoffs and you don't have that 'anything can happen if you make the plyoffs' cookie for mid-range teams

    holy hell, that looked vicious
  3. I'd 100% give Joey Bats a shot at the right price if we could ditch Morales. He's a fine candidate for a dead cat bounce. Its just a situation where you make the expectation clear that his spot isn't guaranteed and that he will basically not see the field.
  4. would be a really good thing if we could trade KC Kendrys + 5M or something for a bag of balls
  5. yeah, I think it probably makes sense to change the name/logo. Its pretty dumb. But my own experience tells me that 90%+ of the people I see with Indians gear are native.
  6. the real question is, is just stupid, or is he dishonest and looking for clicks or listens or whatever. I can totally see a Bo package that included Morales for Yelich being offered (as others have suggested). But that's not the same thing as 'Jays willing to package Bo if it lets them dump Morales'. I'm inclined to say a bit of both
  7. BREAKING; Blue Jays sign some guy I've never heard of to minor league deal https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/01/minor-mlb-transactions-12518.html Threadworthy?
  8. It would make sense for the Jays if they could fit it in the payroll, but I have real doubts the Indians would bite on that
  9. Ideally you want most of the notable FA's to have signed by the time you start the draft.
  10. do we want to spitball a date for the waiver draft? Rules state "Some time in February"
  11. how does that suspension affect his money? He is slated to make 2M this year (with a 500K buyout next year). Not sure how an MiLB suspension affects his MLB contract. Man I was so in on Singleton back in the day. What a dumb guy. Hopefully he saved his bonus.
  12. fun (and pointless due to 5x5) exercise! C - Near Elite 1B - Near Elite 2B - Near Elite SS - Fallback Option 3B - Fallback Option OF (CF) - Fallback Option OF - Next Best Thing OF - Fallback Option OF - Last Resort
  13. So going back, it looks like I haven't really graduated a prospect I drafted since the inaugural draft. Huh... Inaugural; Drafted and promoted- Oscar Taveras, Danny Hultzen (for what he was worth :'(), Gregory Polanco, Alex Meyer, Jon Schoop, Marcell Ozuna Since Then; 2013 - Traded; Kohl Stewart. Dropped;Nick Ciuffo, Nick Delmonico, Max Kepler, Jesse Hahn 2014 - Traded; Nick Gordon, Tyler Beede, Sean Newcomb, Trea Turner. Dropped; Ti-Quan Forbes 2015 - Traded; Brendan Rodgers, Jose De Leon, Dansby Swanson, Tyler Jay. Dropped; Garrett Whitley, 2016 - Still on Farm; Nick Senzel, Forrest Whitley, Heath Quinn. Traded; Zack Collins 2017 - Still on Farm; Sixto Sanchez. Traded; Brandon Woodruff, Jeren Kendall, Nate Pearson, Lucas Erceg, Ryan Helsley (then traded for him back!) Not anything important, just interesting. I've graduated quite a few prospects, just none that I draft. I know there are guys in the league who haven't really graduated anyone meaningful, what are your experiences with the old farm?
  14. Having two prospects get tagged with 70+ hit tools while in high-A as teenagers... feels good man
  15. Oldest team in baseball adds Uehara + Oh... this seems like a good fit But seriously, I hope their market has dried up and we can take a shot.
  16. thing about Oh and Uehara is they both had GB% of under 30 last year, and HR/9's of ~1.5 to go along with it. They also both have nice K:BB to go with it. I'd take a shot on both i their market is low enough.
  17. I read something saying Uehara isn't getting much interest. Could be a nice cheap option with some upside. Could be done given the HR's he's allowed the last 2 years, but it would be worth a shot if the money was small.
  18. I really hope he bounces back. I was f'n high on his hitting ability last year. All the signs seemed good. Year over year improvement, with BB%, K%, ISO improving each of the previous 3 levels. No outrageous BABIP numbers. Ok age for level. Actually scouts always said there might be issues, but I really hope last year was a combo of circumstances and luck. Don't know why but I like the kid
  19. If they thought Ohtani was going to be an above average hitter it might make sense. I just don't think anyone believes he will be a 2 way player for any length of time, let alone a star hitter and pitcher.
  20. so Gib.... BTS, what are you going to do with all those picks? I know you aren't officially GP until they dissolve into nothing, but that farm is pretty full of guys who won't be graduating next year
  21. yeah I would classify your farm as p-good. Your the top team (by a good chunk) with the quick and dirty math of 101 - prospect ranking for each prospect. Of course that math is so quick and dirty that MLB rostered prospects weren't counted... but that's only Acuna, Kingery, and Woodruff
