    So what are ppl's thought on Semien vs Bryant as a target? I love Marcus (obviously) but I imagine they're going to command pretty similar contracts and we might have a harder time filling 3B than 2B with our current guys. Bryant's a bit younger and a bit more consistent, but Marcus has the more recent big WAR years. If I had to choose I might lean Bryant, but maybe I'm crazy.

    Having a part time catcher that can DH is a pretty nice luxury. I honestly think you don't need to carry a backup catcher in this situation. It's not like your catcher gets hurt in most games, and the worst thing that happens if your catcher goes down while your backup is DHing is that you lose the DH for part of a game. I could see the utility of having another solid hitting bench option outstripping what you would lose by having the pitcher hit once or twice in a game once or twice a year.

    4th in the division with a better run differential than the Sox and Yanks combined. Actually better than if the Red Sox offense (829 runs scored vs 771) had the Yankees pitching/defense (669 runs allowed vs 749). 20 runs better on differential than this fictional team!

    I guess I don't understand how the Dodger are 'tarnished'. I can't imagine this affecting the fanbase loyalty, ability to pull free agents, clubhouse chemistry, or really any other aspect of the club really. Sure people will be able to say 'they signed that creep that one time' but they suspended him when this stuff came out and it doesn't sound like he is going to be back with the team no matter what happens in court. I just don't see what 'damage' its going to do the Dodgers other than the big fat check they wrote for no return.
