  1. not too happy about De Leon to the Rays... but at least he'll be more likely to start this season.
  2. I don't even agree with the 'trade value' augment in coming up with 20B. I sure as f*** wouldn't have traded Yordano for pick 21, and I know TCA wouldn't have either. Sure thats only a 2 team sample, but I see his trade value as more than 20B. Not to mention pick 21 has a HELL of a lot less value than either of prospects Hurl got or either of the picks Boxy got (right as the caliber of the player is a hell of a lot less). If you think 20B is too high for comp, I could be convinced, but I haven't heard anything that convinces me he TCA doesn't deserve anything for losing an intriguing young keeper
  3. I defs didn't click any links to those shots. Its not even that I'm grossed out by death, it just seems invasive. Totally inappropriate.
  4. Not much to celebrate about Yordano the person. Non of us knew him, he was a dick on the field, an apparently nice while off. None of us know... he wasn't 'humanized' to us when he was alive. If you are going to have compensation at all, these discussions are going to happen. Glib or not. If you reserve it for 'very good' players, you are going to have the same s***** conversations about who counts as 'really good'. If I lost Polanco tomorrow, is he 'very good'? We need to hammer this s*** out with some stricter rules about compensation. If we don't, we'll keep on having to have these s***** conversations at s***** baseball times. The wishy washy rules sounds good when you dress them up with talk about 'every case is unique', but that always leaves a sour taste in someones mouth when they feel they deserve more (not putting this on TCA or anyone who else, just can and probably will happen).
  5. Manny is a beast, yeah he's going to get paid too. I feel like it will be a while before we see a 40M player, even Trout. Thing about Trout is that he's so f***ing consistent. I also think you're going to get more SB's out of him than Manny will.
  6. Do you seriously consider Ventura to fit that mold? A likely candidate to wash out of baseball? The guy with the high 90's heater who is a year removed from consecutive seasons of 3.6 FIP? The guy KC gave a 5 year extension to, pre-arbitration? Its clear you never liked the guy, but think a little more objectively about it.
  7. Any two unowned prospects (eligible or not). Hurl picked Otani and Maitan. Both don't count against his prospect cap until they play pro ball
  8. You wouldn't get him for a late pick. I for one would have outbid you (if I had the picks).
  9. not really a fair critique. Athote didn't say anything about Ventura being a saint now that he's dead. Some just think its uncouth to speak ill of the dead so soon. I'm not in that category, but its not some horrible failing to hold that opinion.
  10. Ian Kennedy is 32, Yordano was 25. If you were basing his 'worth' on last year and his projections, then he probably wasn't worth much. But that's ingoring his age, pedigree, and 2 very successful season in 14 and 15. Projections are heavily weighted to the last season (I have that right right?), so he's getting doubly penalized for 2016 if you are just using that and his projection. Yordano was definitely an asset. Compensation at the back end of round 1 is justified to me.
  11. Dec 15: to z3r0s; C-Mart, Alex Wood, some RP who will be dropped to TCA; Dansby Swanson, Yordano Ventura, Zack Collins
  12. After some very brief thought, I'd say some sort of comp is required (just nothing on the scale of the other comps). We've set the prescient that a death is different to a sudden career ending injury. Yordano didn't have the success of the other guys, but its hard to argue the potential and he was only 25. Off the top of my head, I'd say a draft or waiver pick (not 1-1 or anything) would be reasonable.
  13. Not me, I wanted Trea bad!
  14. I think the general sentiment is that co-managers should be avoided at all costs (since the great co-manager purge). We've only got one right now and its a unique situation with North. I don't know of any reason why you would need a co-manager, so my stance would be against it. With full knowledge that I don't really have any say. on an aside, two of the most trade happy owners out there... does a partnership increase or decrease the frequency of trades?
  15. I don't mind a little CCC on a cheap deal. Same goes for Pedro Alvarez
  16. Doesn't look like a dynasty in the making, but I'm pretty comfortable with the lineup. Will need some luck (again) with health in the rotation. Depth is an issue, and we need to sign some BP help. Not the ideal way to enter the season, but we're got as good a shot as most to compete.
  17. I don't really buy the projections, especially defense. Seems to be punishing him for declining CF defense, and not considering the move the LF.
  18. Pagan just seems to make so much sense. He's got to be cheap at this point and the move to LF helped mitigate his defensive issues (I can't believe he was playing centre as late as 2015). He's a fairly known commodity at the plate and my even get a boost going to a better set of parks.
  19. as much as I don't like Jose in the OF, that's where we have a need. He'll be out there.
  20. Great news
  21. goals are fun... but you are crushing me.
  22. The keys is to keep drinking like you are still in your 20s.
  23. still looking to make a trade for a CF. HIT ME UP!
