Shutouts are fine as a category on the surface but they were cut to trim down the # of goalie categories in ratio to the skater categories. It's not an advanced stats thing.
And what is the issue with that? I took a 30 second look through each of the matchups and there are only 3 teams out of the 16 with 4 active goalies. And if you're rostering 2 backups that rarely play then those teams are losing value in skater categories.
Seriously. Why bring up the so called "goalie problem" now. The current way it is setup is the best it has ever been in this league. There are 4 less teams which means about 8-12 goalies have been spread throughout the league. And removing shutouts as a category took out some of the randomness and made them less overpowering.
Austin Barnes is very good and the Dodgers know it. He's an above average framer who has hit very well in the upper levels of the minors. The upside is obvious and the Dodgers aren't just going to give him away for a bucket of balls.
