    Maybe but you play to win the World Series, Cone put us over the top in 1992. Same as trading Karsay for Rickey Henderson in 1993.

    I like the idea of Shields as well. Has a proven success in the AL East.

    Strike now, get a SP. Get 'er done AA. McCarthy although only a 3/4 type guy might not cost a lot and could provide decent innings. That being said I would much prefer a #1 or #2 type guy. We need the David Cone trade. Yes we traded Jeff Kent to get him but it was well worth it since we won the WS.

    Trade Rasmus for a SP or keep both. Qualify Rasmus at end of season as well Cabrera. Gets picks or at the very least Rasmus accepts play him in LF with Gose in CF.

    I had a dream last week that Roy Halladay came out of retirement. Sure he got lit up in his first start but then I woke up. Maybe he got better?

    From the moves made, I personally don't think AA and the coaching staff are on the same page, which is part of the problem with the roster management.

    Janssen, Delabar, Cecil, McGowan, Loup does set up to be a pretty nice top 5 in the bullpen.

    Despite all their efforts to not be, the JAYS are still in a position to make a run at the playoffs. If they truly meant what they said last year about seizing a window of opportunity to compete then they need to make a move for a decent SP (at least a #2 type guy). Buehrle, Hutch are doing well, Dickey can eat innings as a #4. But simply hoping that Happ, Hendriks, Stroman, Redmond, Rogers, or some other guy sitting in AAA are going to catch fire and lead this team to the playoffs won't cut it. I think we could afford to move Rasmus in a deal for pitching if necessary, ideally we wouldn't but could be worth it.

    Not saying that it's not, however if the JAYS are sticking to the plan of taking a run at the playoffs while they see a window, then I believe they would make a deal like this. Especially since they keep their top 2 pitching prospects in Stroman and Sanchez.

    I think if Daniel Norris, Roberto Osuna and Mitch Nay would get it done, then it already would be done.
