  1. I undersstand the point but QB contracts are significantly more. Jay Cutlers deal is bigger than what these guys are asking for
  2. I would say the Saints and Jimmy Graham would count, Packers with Jennings and Nelson and Pats with Gronk. The most recent being the Packers in 2011 but that sample is weird because it had flukey winners, Giants and the Ravens. Where their QBs played far above their heads
  3. That's fair. There is proof that elite WRs are vital to an offense though (attaching something about Brady). Having a #1 WR is very important in the pass happy league we have today, unless you build a team like the Seahawks, which is very rare and takes a fair bit of luck (stumbling into a franchise QB in the 3rd round). Cowboys offense will take a significant hit if Dez sits out multiple games.
  4. That's quite vague with no substance to it, really
  5. That's just your opinion then. Saying WRs are overrated frankly isn't accurate. Take a look at Tom Brady's performance when he has had an elite WR/TE (Moss or Gronk), when he has Gronk he is a top QB, without him he's middle of the pack.
  6. Calvin Johnson also got paid when the Cap was 121M and it's now 143M. Prices escalate over time. The real comparison is % of the cap, if Calvin was to get a new contract this year it would be for a higher amount than when he was paid
  7. He has never complained about a contract before. You can't blame him at all here. Arguably the best at his position, is asking for top dollar that bad? Plus he is one of the major cogs of the team and his cheap contract has allowed them to add elsewhere throughout his time with the team (which has had him severely underpaid)
  8. I wasn't sure if you saw the prospect side of it after your original comment, hah. It seems like a decent deal to me. I could spare a bit of offense and needed a pitching injection + got potential ace who i can ogle over
  9. You would have looked like a prophet, hah. At least you stumbled into Pujols finding the fountain of youth this year
  10. Team MVP: Bryce. Having that megastar year I (and everyone) was waiting for Team LVP: Most have been pretty much what I expected, perhaps Duda or Upton - who have both been really slumping the last month Team Ace: Lance Lynn would make the most sense here but Jesse Chavez has been quite nice for me, better than expected Team RA Dickey: Tim Lincecum or Ricky Nolasco. Both suck Breakout Prospect: Lewis Brinson, he has lowered his K rate, raised his walk rate, doubled his ISO and has a 152 wRC+. Promotion to AA seems imminent. Dud Prospect: Kyle Zimmer. His shoulder is basically falling off at this point, if he becomes a late inning reliever I would consider that a strong win
  11. Good week. The hitting was incredibly close. That was a tough one to take - Bryce missing 3 games really came back to haunt me
  12. http://www.raptorsrepublic.com/2015/07/10/dwane-casey-patrick-patterson-likely-to-come-off-bench-james-johnson-at-the-four/ Comments from Casey, could JJ be our starting 4? Obviously very early but seems like a possibility (unless they plan on starting Scola)
  13. If the offense doesnt change you are probably right. However Lou was an iso chucker who the team started following suit. I don't even want to get started on GV - I will easily eat crow if CoJo isn't far superior to him in every aspect. It's Ross and CoJo (not just Cory) replacing GV and Lou. I don't think replacing the production will be a problem at all. My biggest worry right now is our rebounding with Patterson starting at the 4.
  14. Randall Delgado received a Win and a Hold yesterday, does yahoo usually correct this? IIRC this happened to someone last week as well
  15. Sorry to burst your bubble but Goins doesn't make that play
  16. I can confirm this. However, it seems really unlikely that featherD would trade Trout without seeing what other packages could be out there
  17. I would appreciate this troll a lot more if jaysfever hadn't done it so recently
  18. Depending on price...but he is absolutely not a solid defender
  19. Stolen from RealGM, I will be shocked if we don't see a lot of Lowry-CoJo lineups: CoJo: 1444 total MP 74% at PG: +133 +/- 98.2 OFF - 92.2 DEF = +6.0 Net48 16.1 PER (.543 eFG%) 12.7 OPP PER, (.432 eFG%) Net PER = 3.4 26% at SG: +40 +/- 101.8 OFF - 16.5 DEF = +5.3 Net48 16.5 PER (.465 eFG%) 11.7 OPP PER (.455 eFG%) Net PER = 4.9
  20. Lost to Gibbers this week...Now face North in the 8 v 9 matchup! Here we go
  21. The Bobcats are so stupid, they let him walk and all he wanted was below MLE? That is an amazing signing
  22. On that note...anyone have a closer for sale? lol
  23. Agreed but the reason West left Indy was to pursue a ring. Does he think we are that much further ahead than Indy is to consider us? Hopefully his potential suitors can't add him, I would love to have him on the team
  24. I would say really well thus far. Obviously it's only one signing but he also got rid of GV and replaced him with a defensive minded PG that the analytics love. Whether Wes Matthews signs here or not is going to be a huge piece of this. I think the team will go a completely different direction if he goes to Dallas or Sacramento
  25. Yah, thats what I was suggesting earlier. A prove it contract could work really well in his favor with the cap going up the next 2 years, if he truly believes his level of play will remain the same.
