  1. Gibbons needs to get on this clown of an ump and see if he can get a real strike zone enforced.
  2. Framing is still in it's infancy about understanding how much is due to catchers and how much is due to other factors, so I'm still highly sceptical on the current numbers that are coming out. Yes they probably identify the catchers who are bad and good at it, but the actual strike numbers and run values attributed solely to catchers as a result are still very suspect and in need of far more work.
  3. I want being sarcastic either, I'm genuinely interested to see if he's improved at all with his command or just benefitting from AAA hitters being s*****
  4. Time to stick a fork in this one, what's that 7 straight hits now?
  5. Yup and then an easy grounder hit in the exact tight place to get nobody....just another game where everything goes wrong and there seems to be no answer. Been way too many of these types of games lately
  6. Still early for that. Sam Fuld set the world on fire too until he was figured out.
  7. It's more so the pics. Just set a better example.. That's all. Unless you're drunk as hell... then it's okay.
  8. No kidding. The jays are having innings shorter than the commercial breaks
  9. Good defense makes having a bad offense much easier to work around.
  10. You're a mod dude. You should ease up a bit on the same kind of posts that result in getting banned.
  11. Fangraphs did a nice article today. Take a look at the bottom of the list. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/who-has-been-helped-and-hurt-the-most-by-the-art-of-pitch-framing-082214
  12. Yup. Problem is it's still very inconsistent. 9 runs one game, 1 run for the next two, then 7, then 1 or 2 again. Makes for a nice avg of runs per game but not consistent winning baseball.
  13. I just see a lot of passive hitting, coupled with guessing at pitches rather than recognizing what's being thrown and adjusting.

That's a pretty balls out way to accept the challenge though.
  15. There lots of young talent there though and with the payroll room in the upcoming offseason, they could retool in a hurry.
  16. Pedroia boots another one...nothing makes me happier than watching the Sox suck, except for the jays not sucking.
  17. Key point though, AA has to find him and be willing to pay more than league minimum.
  18. Depends on what's actually wrong with the patella. I had a displaced patella when I was 19 and it was no joke. Took 2-3 months of physical therapy before I could even walk without pain. Not enough detail on what kind of patella injury he has though.
  19. Omg... The Red Sox are brutal... Just brutal. Nava just let a pop fly drop in front of him with the bases loaded and none out. Got the runner at second... But holy crap that was awful.
  20. Well, true... His skillset really isn't represented well by xFIP, but he puts so many balls in play that he really needs a good defense behind him, which the jays don't have. And to one of your other points, yeah I think the could be a 2-2.5 WAR pitcher out there that wouldn't cost 19 million. As for whether I trust AA to find him... No, not really
  21. First word on Richards, left knee patella injury. Severity still not known
  22. Sure. But he needs to stop being looked at as a 2/3 and be seen as what he is, a 4. There no real room for improvement in his game. Chances are next year he'll be slightly more hittable, only be around 5 K/9, 2 bb/9, that's not really a guy I want to pay 19 million to as a back end starter. Reliable... Yes. Too expensive for his skillset? Absolutely. He's had an xFIP under 4 only 3 seasons in his career, and never under 3.77. 2 of the seasons were 9 and 10 years ago.
