Well, in all honestly, not allowing an employee to interview for a promotion is a dick move. Yes, he's under contract. But so are coaches all over the majors that are allowed to interview for managing positions, and other FO staff like scouting directors etc being allowed to interview for GM positions. It's just a dick move to intentionally stall someone's career if you know for a fact they have the opportunity to move up with another organization. -

No kidding. His arbitration payday is going to be huge given that he's racked those all important saves over the past 2 seasons. And yes, Dude is a boss. Checking the leaderboard for relievers over the past 5 seasons, he's right up at the top with Chapman, Kimbrel etc in stats that matter.

Yup, I got a nice reply from trying to sign up there. "Dear John-havok, Unfortunately your registration at Orioles Hangout Community did not meet our membership requirements. Therefore your registration was deleted. Sorry, Orioles Hangout Community" So I replied asking what their requirements are since they aren't posted anywhere in the registration process. -

True, but it's widely accepted a dick move to not let your guys Interview for promotions with other teams. Yes it can't be an official MLB policy, but all teams pretty much allow it. -

Do they not understand that this happens at every level of baseball regarding managers, hitting coaches, pitching coaches, gm's .... It's an accepted practice to get permission to talk to other teams employees of the position you want them for is a promotion from their current role. It's also accepted that if the job isn't a promotion, you don't get permission to talk to them. There's nothing shady, silly or anything even remotely resembling tampering whosoever. Be mad that you're losing a great FO man, but don't blame the team willing to advance the man's career. Also, don't blame the man for advancing his career. Fans are dumb. -
But again, it's highly unlikely that the directives are coming from the ownership. They don't tell the GM who to go get, they just approve the expenditures when it comes down to money.

Why would you assume Beeston or anyone at rogers has anyone to do with what individual players to sign? Like some muckity muck at rogers is like... " ALex, go get Saunders.." Unless your general point was more that he needs to get legit pieces and quit f***ing around with waivers in trying to find diamonds in the rough whe trying to compete. But again, I doubt that's anything that would come as a directive from the top, more likely it's guys like Tinnish and his people finally getting through to him about guys who are undervalued and highly attainable.

I felt that throughout the game the raps were far too focusedn what Kobe was doing and gave him way to much respect. They basically let him do what he wanted the whole game without getting in his face. There were stretches where they did press him and that's when they were successful.

Beane is great at finding pitchers who succeed in his ballpark where balls don't carry. then he trades them for a premium to GM's who don't have a good analytics department.

They don't need rotation spots for Norris or Sanchez in 2015. They both have options and would greatly benefit from working in AAA for more than 22.2 and 34.1 innings respectively.

I misspoke slightly when I say that's "the plan", but moreso that's what the current situation is if no other moves are made.

I haven't checked the list of who specifically might be available, but there's always a possibility for that to happen.

Exactly, which is why there's generally always more than 1 top level prospects going in any trade of top talent. The team taking the risks by bringing in prospects wants as many as possible to at least and get 1 to turn out. Statistically speaking, the team getting the prospects usually doesn't get the good end of the stick. Then of course there's always the Bartolo Colon trade ...
