Nope. Just saying you’re using an example where it was demonstrated by the people in the f***ing movie that it was not okay nor tolerated, so using it as some sort of “what if” pertaining to the Jays is stupid. It wasn’t okay then and it wouldn’t be okay now. It’s also a drastically different situation than joking around in the dugout while losing a game. Their team was on the middle of a terrible season, last season the Jays were in the playoffs with 90 plus wins and were on a tear in the second half after replacing Bongo boy.

Ask any professional athlete in a team sport, they’ll tell you leadership and accountability is far more effective coming from other players, not a manager or coach

When a contract is over, both parties need to be amenable to returning. Just because the contractor wants to come back doesn’t mean the employer is bound by some weird sense of loyalty an obligation to extend an offer. Buck sounds like he’s grandpa Simpson yelling at clouds again. -

10 years ago those deals set the market though. The deals for Prince and Miggy are basically the 10-year-ago equivalent to what the big guys are getting this offseason.

Yeah, people sometimes don't realize that nobody gets to the highest levels of any professional support without having 100% confidence in their ability, themselves, their path going upwards... all kinds of things that a regular joe working at "insert boring 9-5 job" here would absolutely hate if their co-workers talked or behaved like that in an office.

Risky to wait, they might have to trade for him at the deadline first, which wouldnt be cheap in the way of prospect capital. If he does go to FA though, I would anticipate a 500million dollar deal. If 9 years of Judge at 31 is worth 360... someone 2 years younger who's a unicorn... and will have multiple billionaire fighting over him. Dude is going to get paaaaaaaaid. He could buy the Japanese league when he's done.

As young as Kershaw when he hit FA the first time. What's really crazy that DeGrom is only about 100 days younger than Kershaw, Kershaw has 15 seasons in the bigs, DeGrom has 9.

Yes, this makes sense from a dollars perspective, but the length of these is essentially just being used to get the AAV lower for luxury tax purposes. Especially in Correa's case.

Isn’t this exactly like the contract that was rumoured about Judge from the Padres they thought would get investigated for being in bad faith to keep the AAV low? It’s under 27 million per year which doesn’t make a lot of sense. He should be well into then 30+ million aav

Youre not wrong. They have one of the highest valued franchises in the game, an amazing local fanbase, excellent revenues every single year. They really have no excuse not to be pushing close to a 200 million dollar payroll every year.

Im on the negative side of that fence. They had the worst defense in the game last season, a very average offense that doesnt really project to be much better unless a lot of guys have some great bounceback seasons. Haniger might be okay, but doesnt move the needle that much unless he also turns back the clock and stays healthy. Manaea and Stripling dont really replace what Rodon gave them though their staff will probably be fine given the pitcher's park they play in every year. So yeah, its been a quiet offseason that COULD prove to be adequate to above average, but they've not really done anything to move the needle against the Dodgers and Padres. They're staring at 3rd place again and hoping to sneak into the wildcard. Adding Correa would move it into the nice offseason category. Teams clearly above them in the NL, Dodgers, Padres, Cardinals, Braves, Mets, Phillies. they're still very much on the outside of the playoffs looking in IMO.
