Having him pitch a multi inning role is how they’re trying to build him back up, very very gradually. As much as I personally think they should abandon him as a starter completely and just let him air out as a reliever and try to get him into a high leverage role, I’m betting that if he makes it through this season unscathed and gets close to 100-110 IP …we’ll see him as a starter option in spring next season.

A well-executing Manoah should carve this lineup a new one. The Manoah we've seen virtually every game this season other than his start at Yankee Stadium might not.

And yes, those two games from this season are the 2 worst games in run impact since Joe West's 2.65 runs in a Jays/Rays game in 2020. Jays actually got the favour that day. They're also the worst 2 games this season by quite a bit. Next worst is 1.62 runs impact

You're right that they could have done worse defensively in CF - but overall Pillar was about an average player. Average = mediocre.

Depends how you feel about classifying Boston, the Yankees and Pittsburgh. The bag of s*** category would easily include Detroit, white Sox x 2, nationals, As and Reds. All series wins where they only lost 3 games. They swept 4 against Boston early in the season, 3 against the Pirates who had a great record at the time, won a 3 game set with the Yankees then split the 4 game series. Series losses are to Toronto, Baltimore and Houston.

Let’s all keep in mind that Orelvis is in the infancy of trying to make significant adjustments with his approach and swing, which are not easy things to do. We may want to give him more than a month into that process before making too many judgments. I’ve probably been the most vocal critic of the kid over the past few seasons too

Bo is not a below average shortstop. Bo is a below average defensive shortstop. There’s a really big distinction between those two comments. If all that mattered at SS was defense, Espinal would be playing everyday As for the rest, yeah. We can debate all day long whether player X or Y is worth whatever contract they sign, the answer is almost always no if it’s a free agent deal that pays the going rate. Usually the only deals that ever turn out to be worth it are the early extensions that get cost certainty in place and buy out a few FA years at below market rate.

True, but how many of those they let walk or traded were in their mid 20s putting up 150~ wRC+? Essentially they’ve let them go at the end of their 20s when the decline phase was in sight, or mid 30s vets still performing well just not wanting to keep paying them premiums. CHappy would be the example on the Jays roster, not Vlad or Bo this season. 1 of them walking when they hit FA would be similar to Xander leaving Boston.

Nobody celebrates mediocre ball players like Jays fans.

Some pretty bad approaches there by Vlad and Chapman. The entire stadium knows McHugh throws outside edge or outside …yet Vlad and CHappy both trying to pull.
