  1. It hasn’t quite reached the Knicks level of suck though. They can still prob sell hope
  2. I’d bet Jays, along with most other teams, definitely make an actual offer for Snell. Here’s to hoping they like SWR
  3. Trade for Snell. Sign Springer. Let’s get it But I agree I’d be surprised if Mets come up empty. Just hope most of you don’t get your wish and we sign glove-first Wong and Bradley
  4. Put it another way though, MB or Harold Baines? Who do you take for the Hall?

I’m not alone. I came across a poll of like 5000 ppl if he should be benched or not and it was like 80/20 for benching him. Not that it means a lot but just saying I’m hardly spouting crazy stuff

I’ve seen him miss enough throws and make enough bad decisions to have that opinion, despite the s*** O-line

    Wentz sucks
  9. I think we covered this a bit recently talking about blacks/inner city participation in baseball. I know my take was the biggest reason for the skewed numbers vs other sports is the difference in the college recruiting and interest level. Not sure how baseball would become “more cool”. Basketball and football are way more “casual friendly”, especially at the college level. Pace of play, crazy environments and all that. I don’t really see how the tide gets reversed no matter what kind of money baseball tossed at the problem
  10. Yeah no doubt there will be a great opp for guys looking to improve their draft stock. For teams it’s definitely a win as more data is good like you said
  11. If they came off a bad season in hs or college, they would have every incentive to play. Don’t see your point
  12. Oh I didnt read it through lol But I guess half the games would come pre-draft?
  13. What if you’re Riley Green off the cuff and you’re Top 5 pick but then you hit .220 in limited ABs in the Showcase league and you tumble (losing millions)
  14. It would be after the high school/college season, no? If you looked like a Top 10 pick what would be the benefit of playing? Think like an agent
  15. Mostly cool but you immediately think of the people with a really high draft stock coming in. A 1st round SP could blow his arm or something and so on.. or even if you’re a Top 10 pick why risk playing and chance playing out of it in sss.. you’d have to think there’d be some opt outs but also lots of opp for people to move up the ladder
  16. I was taking 2018-2020 for Ray, if you stretch it more it looks better. Actually Harvey seems to be a really good comp, in the 3 years prior to FA they were at 2.9 and 2.5 WAR over about 2 seasons of IP. I wouldn’t call Harvey a corpse as his velo, while down, wasn’t overly alarming at 94 prior to FA. He clearly lost his feel for pitching but he was a lottery ticket like Ray. Bigger name, not sure if that meant anything though But either way, if Ray signed for 1/10 say, it’s not much difference in terms of what he’d get normally We’ll find out more about the market soon I guess
  17. Ray had a couple seasons of solid backend SP and then this last season he was literally one of the worst SP in baseball. He’s got some potential but I think that’s reflected in the 1/8. What would you expect for him in a normal market?
  18. Meh. I’m figuring its because I have to switch to full site. Most of you guys seem to be on your computer, I’m never on mine when here
  19. Well, at least the stadium sucks for watching a game of baseball by all objective accounts, as it routinely scores at the bottom of any list. I went to Texas a couple times, once during the last season there. Didn’t really see a need to rip that one down
  20. How are you guys adding/dropping players?
  21. Are you against lucrative tax breaks/incentives too, or just fronting them cash to build?
  22. Well, the stadium has a multiplier effect that those other options don’t. Anyways, I guess your stance that is if one area suffers, another thrives. Like I never make it to the downtown area of where I live but if I spend my money where I am, there’s economic benefit to that and I agree with that. So we found some common ground. Those local restaurants downtown near me will probably close if there’s a lot more people like me but somewhere else will benefit for sure if I’m still spending
  23. Jesus Jim. What if he pays more on his credit card or buys a few video games off Amazon?
  24. Construction jobs alone would be well into 9 figures. And you’re minimizing the local impact but to each their own. I know you’ve got the fiscal conservative thing going on
  25. Not much of a fallacy. That the money would be spent locally otherwise is hardly a given. Between e-commerce, spending money at national chain like Walmart, or paying off bills- whenever you can ensure it gets spent locally to support local businesses, it’s a win. Not saying I support the cause either way, just pointing out your thinking is limited
