Apparently he broke Covid protocol and went to Lil Baby’s (I didn’t know who that was) bday party at a strip club in Vegas. Apparently for Baby’s gift, James gave him $100k cash, 200k watch, and a Prada bag. I realize he’s rich but that seems a bit excessive lol
  3. LG + SWR + Jansen for Snell. They’d prob want Kirk though
  4. Yeah he’s going to want to be paid like a star for sure 10/300, or close to it now. If he has another lukewarm season he’s definitely not going to be able to command it though. A team could potentially get him for $50-75m less over a long contract easy by waiting. If he has a big year, the price isn’t going to go up from 10/300, so there’s not much to lose waiting.
  5. As projected (even though LG’s is conservative), it’s 3 wins. But don’t forget it’d prob be LG + something equally intriguing. Pass
  6. Yeah 107 seems pretty conservative if not insulting. I guess they’re comping him to other guys that debuted when they were almost 25 with 1 year of underwhelming milb stats
  7. Yeah but I’d imagine especially SS and CF at an earlier age
  8. I’m talking out my yang a bit but physically I’d imagine there’s a steady curve downwards for SS and CF after 30.... especially if there’s a knee injury or something. Anyways, there’s not many guys I would be ok with Jays signing for 10 years as they aren’t like NYY where they’re like “this is a sunk cost, ho hum not going to worry about it and it’s business as usual”
  9. Because a lot of his value is dependent on D as someone mentioned and he’s a SS?.. and his .820 OPS may not be as sexy at 3b in 5 years for $25-30m

That Jet finale is pretty funny. Only saw a clip but it’d appear they literally decided to throw the game. One-on-one coverage on a fly route with no help over the top in Hail Mary situation
  11. It scares you but you’d do a 10/250 contact? Honestly I’d rather keep Gurriel and sign a guy like Didi to go along with Springer. That’s good enough offense w/o worrying about Lindor’s deal in 5 years

Baker has been pretty up and down this year.. in games against good teams he hasn’t really been a huge factor. Lighting it up today but think they’re clear grade below the more legit teams
  13. Because there’s wild fluctuations year-to-year and so it’s best to take the avg of a few years? Obviously he seems to be plus defender just not 17 runs in 100 games good
  14. If you concede his 2019 defensive value was at least a little inflated, he’s been basically a 1 WAR player the last 2 seasons. And he could very well not be the primary C by May if he comes out slow with the bat again
  15. For the record I wouldn’t move Jansen for Lynn based on fact Tor is still “look to the future team”. If they were legit WS contender I prob would. But just saying as Rangers fan I wouldn’t get a chubby with DJ as return for Lynn
  16. Mlb pipeline Drury was #5 prospect for AZ and 50 FV 2015 And McKinney was Top 100 prosprct in few lists 2014/2015
  17. Keep in mind we’re talking about if they were Top 100 guys a few years prior to the trade ala Jansen. So 2015 Drury and McKinney. Pretty sure McKinney was Top 100
  18. I’d have to Google but think you’re wrong
  19. I was mostly talking about fan reaction but if you want to expand it to trade value/precedent, we can do that too. What was the board reaction to the Happ trade? I honestly don’t recall. Because 2 months of him cost Drury and McKinney, 2 solid 50 FV prospects that had lost their shine but still weren’t yet lost casuses, not unlike DJ. So if we had a full year of control and dealt Happ for either of those guys (and just one mind you), what do you think the reaction would’ve been? I realize DJ has a better defensive rating in sss that you may lean on for more value but Lynn is also a bit better than Happ. It’s not apples to apples but it’s a fair comparison
  20. We were talking in the context of fans bro
  21. I’m just good at putting myself in other’s shoes. If Jays were looking towards the future and had an asset like Lynn, most would not be happy with DJ as the return. It’s not so much the mathematics of is Player A going to provide more value than Player B. Most would would rather have a prospect/player with more of their luster still there, even if they’re couple levels away DJ’s scouting reports had him as average C and now you’re projecting a lot of value based on fairly sss of defensive data. If he can’t hit better (projected below avg at 26 even with benefit of bb rate last year he prob won’t keep up), he’s looking like a backup C that won’t be in the lineup enough to prove his defensive worth.
  22. There’d definitely be an old school/new school divide on the Rangers/Cubs message boards if you traded either of those guys with DJ being the main/or only piece.
  23. Yeah feels like he’s (JTR) trying to set the market for C rather than what the precedent has been for similar players last handful of years. 5/100 would seem entirely fair, rather than a “Covid discount”
  24. Don’t know the circumstances of Gatto but even if programs are available to players doesn’t mean it’s required. See Vlad on this lol. You have to want to put in the extra work. Could’ve been washing out spurred that. I’m sure different people respond different to different programs as well. Some people may find success at Driveline and others may have more success somewhere else. I mean look at a guy like Jose Bautista. Were the Bluejays so much smarter than everyone else or was it just a time and a place where he decided he wanted to change his approach and found great success?
  25. Yeah it’s not like Driveline is a magical place. These concepts are mimicked all over the country starting from when good players are like 12 basically. Obviously intensity and sports science is different as you go up levels but the places good enough to be training pros are all over the country and likely incorporated in a teams training regimen as well
