  1. Going to be broken record lol… KK probably isn’t going to make any difference to Springer in a playoff series. And you lost Teo’s bat. Stop saying it’s better. At least say in the long term it’s probably a better move as we only had Teo for one year and now got a controllable RP, which are costly on the open market. That I can get, even if I don’t dig it
  2. I can respect it framed like that. Wish they didn’t have to tack on a year though. I’m sure it needed to be so
  3. He’s 34 next season in a position that regularly sees dramatic decline in the early 30’s. He declined last year already glancing at FG page. Now he had Matt Kemp surgery. It’s not like his bat makes him viable paying solid defense. Just because someone doesn’t like the signing doesn’t mean it’s doom and gloom. As I’ve said, I applauded the Kooch signing, while others puked in their mouth a little. Get over it
  4. Lol. This was my first thought as well
  5. I think you’re reading too much into Statcast if you think there’s encouraging stuff from a 30yo who has had pretty much the same same career stats outside one outlier year. I mean how many Hitters get noticeably better after 30?
  6. Not to rehash Covid, but I wonder if it plays any factor still. Like the threat of an outbreak that Canada comes down hard on, suddenly Conforto can’t play
  7. Well, any move that gets made, or doesn’t get made, takes some balls as another WC finish and 1st round bounce could realistically mean his job
  8. Of course we don’t know. We can just judge on the end result. Maybe three years ago someone offered something big for Pearson and Jays passed. This is the kind of stuff where legends get made or lost ..I’m not being 100% serious here btw but at least somewhat serious about having some balls
  9. It’s not the try league
  10. This is a bit more accurate, yes
  11. Wasn’t a Belly guy (other than as 4th OF) but Would you rather have $1 bill or $1 scratch off that could be worth $1000. I’ll take the scratch off. In this case, it’s like getting a scratch off where you’re hoping you get your $1 back after scratching it off
  12. Trading for a controllable CF that could use something other than a wet pool noodle wouldve actually been more ideal. But it’s good you’ve conditioned yourself so well for disappointment
  13. Bad comp for a few reasons. There’s a difference between building a WS contender and then adding pieces to go next level, vs throwing a bunch of middle of the road s*** in a pot
  14. Causals would be creaming their pants. Tons of franchise excitement. Franchise value would prob see a boost
  15. Yeah. There’s extreme examples of operation on the high end and low end. But just go to an alternate universe for a second and say the Jays keep Teo this off season (get RP some other way) and decide f*** it, let’s sign Judge and say Rodon. That’s not a bad thing. It doesn’t fit what they’re doing, but it wouldn’t be terrible.
  16. What can change of course, is ownership like a Boston and then the contracts can go south very fast. So admittedly, there is that threat
  17. Well. Yes I agree. That’s what I’m saying. But It wouldn’t be like “omg, how f***ing stupid are the Mets and SD” .. they’re not stupid at all. Just operating differently
  18. He never met fans from the bjmb
  19. This is about baseball for me and our organization,” Seidler told the Union-Tribune while — yes, truly — in the middle of a jog. “Fans never ask me, ‘What do you think about spending that much?’ They never ask me that. They say, ‘Man, I love to go out to see Machado and Tatis and Croney. That’s what I get. Why do it? Did we give up too much? That’s about 10 percent of what I’m thinking
  20. Again, let’s not assume billionaires are stupid. They all see how these contracts go, just like the rest of us.
  21. Lack of common sense to that. They aren’t the final deciders on that
  22. I mean, is it better though? I mean if the Jays went all SD, would it be the worst thing, or even a bad thing? It’s only a bad thing because they’re not willing to support the team in that level. I mean, I’m not crying Jays aren’t SD bc it’s fruitless, but I’m not sure I’d call their approach “better”. It’s just a matter of they want no part of $70m of dead money in 10 years, while SD is like who gives a s***, we’ll be spending more then So in this case it’s a matter of: “yes we make our team a little less of a WS threat this year but we’ll be better suited for the future”.. Vs a team that’s like “let’s add and win this thing next year”
  23. No doubt if there’s a playoff rematch tomorrow, Jays aren’t better for it. Still time to go though
  24. You said words “cleanup hitter”, so you triggered the people now
  25. If that’s what it is, good move if they don’t dent their budget much. Even the naysayers like me should hold off final judgment until the roster is set. Still worrisome what they may roll with but we’ll see
