Great post John, I especially agree with the luxury tax calculation. When the league’s biggest spender gets a break on the salary of the games best player it looks really foolish in my opinion. Logic says you divide total dollars by years to get the luxury tax number.

Nobody is arguing the yearly salary is the luxury tax calculation it’s the AAV My assumption was Ohtani’s luxury tax hit would be 70M/year If it’s 40M like Passan says…. That’s a huge difference. But at least Cincinnati and St. Louie get a competitive balance pick!!
