  1. One Cutch SB away from a nice fat 14-0 over TheHurl... please!!!!
  2. Must read Bo profile. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/big-read-know-blue-jays-prospect-bo-bichette/
  3. look at this hot take
  4. Bo won't get quite that much love. My favourite player to compare him to right now is Mookie Betts. So many similarities. The swings are more similar than most realize (including the swing path). A lot of the tools are comparable; Mookie has more speed but Bo might have a bit more pop. The defensive profile and developmental path might be identical (we'll see). I think Mookie is a really fair comp for Bo's upside. Mookie in 2013 had a year like Bo's, that made prospectophiles cream their pants. .314/.417/.506 with 15 HR and 38 SB, while playing the infield, split between A and A+ as a 20 year old. Not as eye-popping as Bo's slashline and he was one year older BUT Mookie was uber-elite in an important way that Bo hasn't been: Mookie had 81 walks and only 57 strikeouts in 127 games. He was clearly special, much like Bo is now clearly special. BA and MLB.com ranked Mookie 75th and 62nd heading into 2014. I don't think BP even ranked him! Bo might get slightly better treatment but I would still not expect him to crack any list's top 25... could be wrong. In my books (which are the best books) he's already in the elite. Most evaluators and rankers will fail to grasp the statistical significance of what he is doing this year. They'll treat it much the same as they'd treat a 20 year old hitting .320/.420/.520 in the same league. Just thrown into the "really really good!" bucket.
  5. I need scouting reports or profiles on my new trade chips!
  6. I can't find anything about him, at least not any sort of legitimate scouting report. He wasn't a highly ranked international prospect. You can infer from his assignment to Lansing that Toronto thinks something of him.
  7. Finish line is approaching. 82 TCA 83 pendelton4life19 84 jays_fever 85 torontofan 86 KingKat 87 jaysblue 88 pendelton4life19 89 SpeedyGose fin.
  8. This is a fantastic article and I implore everybody to read it. The video within is also very nicely done. I had no idea that Japan was having such a big impact on Brazilian baseball. What an interesting melting pot of influences. I love how the Nippon Blue Jays have the old T Bird Jays logo on their jersey.
  9. 12 team h2h redraft league. Would you do this trade? Get: Belt and Trout. Give: Carrasco, McCutchen, Smoak, and Addison Reed. It's 7x7 with the extra categories being OPS and XBH, and BSV and L as negatives. I'm not actually in this league but someone asked me if I would do it. Not really sure!
  10. Good job, scouting department. I might have to hire you guys full time. Albies is owned on Yahoo by Gibbers
  11. Jonah, PM me when you see this. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/curious-case-troy-tulowitzkis-low-k-rate-missing-bat-speed/
  12. It should be noted that moving Donaldson from 2nd to 3rd is a negative, based on The Book. The 3rd spot is where your ~5th best hitter should be. It comes up too often with 2 outs. It would be a good space, politically, to stash Morales. Ideally, your high OBP hitters can come up with nobody out. Bautista Donaldson Morales Smoak Pearce who cares about the rest
  13. Should have distributed that money across a basket of international 16 year old! Think of how mediocre Lansing could have been in 2019...
  14. You can probably tie the fact that AA did NOT get Aroldis Chapman directly to the organization currently having Vladito. AA said that he saw Chapman before he signed and loved him, but they missed out on him by a few million dollars and he always regretted not just writing the cheque to get the elite talent. Based on the price tag for Vlad and the moves associated with increasing their international budget to get him, I'm guessing he learned from his own history and simply wrote the cheque to get the dude.
  15. I actually read Donaldson's comments about Bautista/Morales' OBP as a backhanded way to complain about Pillar in the leadoff spot. He wanted to make a point about low OBP guys hitting too high. It's not a good move to directly chirp his teammate. So, he mentioned two other guys that can take it. And the obvious way to move Smoak up in the lineup is to have Bautista leadoff and slide Smoak up to 3rd or 4th, so opining that Smoak should slide up is an indirect way to advocate for Pillar going to the bottom of the order.
  16. Just get hyped man. If it's Travis Snider 2.0, at least you'll be numb to it. whispers: Vlad seems to be objectively better than Snider though...
  17. I think it's one of those things where if you've ever seen him play, or talked to a scout that has seen him play, those typical reservations just get thrown out the window. The HR derby videos from two days ago are absolutely insane. He was hitting laser beams that less than 1% of professional hitters, at all levels, are capable of. Also, calling him #1 has a lot to do with some of the other prospects in baseball that have graduated (ex., Bellinger, Benintendi, Swanson) or taken steps back this year (ex., Meadows). Of course you can still very much opine that Robles, Torres, Rosario, Moncada, Mejia, or Senzel are probably better at this moment in time. Rodgers and Jimenez in the top tier. Devers in that tier too. I think Kyle Tucker is top 10. Bo Bichette is the best prospect on the planet. I guess the argument for calling him #1 so early is plainly that his hit/power combination is unrivaled in minor league baseball. This is a possible Miguel Cabrera. You can't say that about any other player in the minors right now.
  18. Tulo's decline hasn't seemed quite as abrupt. It was also masked by the trade and various injuries and that the team was winning
  19. Tulo is definitely having some mechanical problems with his swing. He's barely striking out (well below his career rate, actually) and his BB% is steady with the last two seasons. But... His GB% is a career high. His FB% is a career low. His GB/FB ratio is a career high (obviously). His LD% is a career low. His Infield Fly % is a career high, and an alarming 16.7%. It seems like he pops out all the f***ing time. Making contact but hitting weak ground balls and pop ups. He's Kevin Pillar. I'm almost certain it's mechanical. He probably needs to make some kind of adjustment like McCutchen just made a month ago. It's time for a lesson from the team's best hitters, JD and Smoak.
  20. 6th rounder Brock Lundqvist has signed. https://www.instagram.com/blundy33/ Also, he has a nice moustache. And he works out. #Talent http://i.imgur.com/meEG6WC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/GWMStne.png
