  1. That's why Donaldson is getting SS reps, obviously. It's not to get Aoki's bat into the lineup haha. Question is would Tulo be fine at 2B? That's an awful alignment of course. It would only be palatable as a sometimes or short term thing
  2. If JFL can confirm that he is definitely interested then I can pick tonight. Will likely just randomize the choice. Can you three let me know what other leagues you're in? It might be relevant if one of you possibly would be stretched too thin.
  3. I don't even think a vote makes sense. Just find out who is interested and then either pull a name from a hat or pick the guy with the fewest other fantasy commitments.
  4. Gibbers v. the Darrell Dynasty League The vote was as close as possible but the majority of DDL members decided that they no longer want Gibbers to be in the league. I reached out to Gibbers and informed him of this roughly 34 hours ago. I want to take a moment to address the rationale for this unprecedented action. There is no question in my mind that Gibbers was NOT colluding with jaysblue. Obviously there was a long track record of Gibbers giving jaysblue very favourable trades, but I think this was simply caused by jaysblue knowing how to most effectively communicate with Gibbers. For posterity, these are some of the trades between them: August 2017: Zack Cozart to JB for Tulo, Steckenrider, and two late picks. Tulo likely was an addition to the trade after the fact to appease dissenters. July 2017: Roberto Osuna to JB for Luke Weaver, 3 MiLB picks, and 2 waiver picks. February 2016: Shelby Miller to JB for 3 MiLB picks. March 2015: Starling Marte to JB for Heaney, Odorizzi, 1 MiLB pick. June 2014: Buster Posey and Hutch to JB for Profar, Myers, Jhoulys Chacin. Everybody makes bad trades. Taken individually these are largely palatable, but taken as group the trend is a bit uncomfortable. Gibbers made other bad trades with different owners (examples: Kyle Hendricks to me for two draft picks, Kelvin Herrera to Dinger for Andrew Chafin) so collusion seems out of the question, but there probably isn’t a more persistent example of one owner shuffling talent to another specific owner for lesser pieces in the league’s history. Possibly Boxy to me, but we'd have to do the math. Jaysblue’s effectiveness at communicating with Gibbers highlights the main issue that rose to the surface in my reading of the situation: a frustration of the social relationship between Gibbers and the rest of the league. It’s clear that for a handful of reasons, over time, a good chunk of league owners lost any comfort in communication with Gibbers and/or they no longer enjoyed playing fantasy baseball with him. There could have been various reasons for this; most are speculation. Gibbers has displayed a somewhat abrasive personality at times, and his jokes about colluding with jaysblue didn’t sit well with people. His ostensible lack of desire to compete slowly grew very frustrating, evidenced by his obsession with trading all mature MLB assets, even those in their mid 20s, and habit for collecting an obscene and tactically ridiculous amount of draft picks. Perhaps some owners just want a more competitive league. Regardless of each owner’s specific reasons, the vote was called and the results satisfied our voting rules for effecting a significant change to the league. I want to stress that this situation absolutely has nothing to do with jaysblue, who is one of the most competitive members of the league, and should not reflect negatively on him whatsoever. We need to thank Gibbers for being an active owner in the DDL for all these years. I hope this doesn’t bug him too much. It’s just fantasy baseball after all. We can probably find our replacement by referencing the processes for replacing North and Min earlier this year. I forget who the runner-up candidates were.
  5. If you want to be optimistic you can probably comp him to Austin Barnes, who: - was older - always hit in the minors - never really got prospectus love - is good at baseball
  6. Jansen's AAA stint has been bananas. 12 G 8 BB 3 HR 4 2B 1 3B 1 K Eight walks and one strikeout
  7. This thread just got incredibly creepy
  8. Pretty sure his SwStr% should be mostly stable at this point.
  9. What is happening with Aroldis Chapman? Velocity seems the same. SwStr has gone from 17%+ to like 11% this year.
  10. Stewart and Helsley!
  11. I'd rather just stat-scout someone.
  12. It's like his prospect value has barely moved since the draft. Obviously he can hit, the stats/peripherals/age are good (he was the 6th youngest qualified player in the California league), but he needs 60 game power if he's ever going to be a useful MLB player. If he was a Mets prospect everyone would love him. It basically all comes down to whether or not he learns to hit with power consistently in games. He's not going to be a guy like Smoak who will hang around until he's 30 getting a chance to figure it out because of defense, a good work ethic, etc. I wouldn't care about owning him in, say, a 20 team dynasty league. Meh. Fat.
  13. Miggy at 19 in the FSL: .274/.333/.421 Vlad at 18 in the FSL: .336/.456/.492
  14. I like developing prospects up the defensive spectrum anyway. It keeps them operating at the upper limits of their athleticism, and obviously the roster flexibility is good at the MLB level even if they can only sort of play the position
  15. That's actually what happened?
  16. I wonder if he'll have any defensive value at all. Obviously getting years ahead of myself here, but that might separate his career from perennial All Star to Hall of Famer.
  17. I don't think I've beaten a good team once all season. I lose to all of these other playoff teams and beat up on the non-contenders. I lack confidence
  18. I think it's working fine the way it is. People know that we only track one set of picks at a time and if/when they trade future picks it's up to them to track it, and it's not official. I'm vehemently against adding another entire set of draft picks to the spreadsheet. I'm not sure why it was more frequent this year. Bad league!
  19. At least the standings are worth monitoring again. Donaldson's impact seems to go above and beyond his WAR contributions. Should they have kept Joe Smith? Hmmmm.
  20. Still need FTD, Speedy, Havok, Sammy to vote. I'd like to get everyone's vote for this.
  21. Vlad dong alert. Up to .322... OBP over .450 for Dunedin. Jesus. You can't MAKE a better hitting prospect than this guy. Also, I didn't notice that Eddy Olivares got promoted.
  22. And I'm just over here starting Ariel Miranda and Kendall Graveman every five days
  23. The Butt Stallions currently own Joey Votto, Josh Donaldson, Manny Machado, and Andrew McCutchen fap fap fap lots of eggs in the Good Players basket though.
