  1. well I will think about it. best I can do
  2. Reason we haven’t done it is IL hoarding since we can’t block red flag adds without being a paid league. I mean we still could do it and just say no red flag adds but then I’d have to monitor adds even more
  3. You’re a power battum.

Old good Norm or old bad Norm or less old good Norm? There are a lot of old norms at this point...
  5. +9000 f*** bob man fred
  6. They clearly should have done something like this. Idiocy to have teams travelling all over the country, in and out of every MLB city. I guess it is much more complicated in baseball though, compared to hockey or basketball, with the need for huge 60 man player pools, games every day, field quality demands.
  7. They are making it up as they go and the plan was not wholesome. Ideally they would just be able to isolate players and contact trace, etc., and fill in rosters from the 60 man pool. That's the whole point of the 30 man rosters and 60 man pools. BUT failures in player discipline, testing accuracy, testing turnaround, and complications from local and state policies, have ruined the plans. Baseball's hope for how it all could or would work seems to have been too Utopian. NHL and NBA have taken more realistic approaches with their bubbles. MLB really should have bubbles in a few select places, possible with Toronto being one.
  8. Either I am wrong or the news is fake. The voters will decide.
  9. I don't think he lied either but it's pretty easy to decide that you don't want to go through a rebuild when the team priming for a rebuild has already indicated they don't want you around. I mean, if Toronto presents him with an extension do you really think he turns it down? Not a chance.
  10. I can't see the logic in sending him out right now. He has proven he can demolish the minor leagues and he needs to learn how to hit major league pitching the same way, so he needs to be up. Making him the DH would at least focus his attention entirely on hitting. In terms of a hypothetical demotion and service time - he had .157 in 2019 and would end 2020 at 1.157 if not demoted. The super 2 cutoff is something like 123 days, so in theory if they demoted him for a month (regular 162 season time) it might get him below the super 2 cutoff, which means he would go through arbitration the normal three years instead of the super 2 four years. I highly doubt this is even a consideration though. If he continues to struggle mightily and they decide to demote him for ~2 weeks this year it might keep him from being a super 2 player.
  11. Which is a micro-shame because he has like, 70th percentile sprint speed and a good arm. Fisher, Hernandez and Roman Laureano came up through the Astros system at the same time and were all similar "five tool" OF prospects. Laureano is a star now and Fisher and Hernandez have essentially the same flaws and the same projections.
  12. He wasn't literally fired but when a manager's contract is up and the team tells him they aren't giving him a new one it's not a far cry from being fired. Better for both parties if they say in that circumstance that they agreed to part ways. Team doesn't have to necessarily look like they are s***ing on a popular figure. Manager does not have to necessarily admit that they were not wanted.
  13. The offense should correct itself though. Nobody would expect the core players to be below average hitters so regression is in order. Defense is not promising though.
  14. Royals being very aggressive with their pitching prospects. Promoting Kris Bubic to start Friday and he has not pitched above A+. Brady Singer had his 2nd start today and he only had a partial season in AA. It seems like they don't want to completely waste what they have left in guys like Sal Perez and Merrifield. Brady Singer does not have impressive stuff. Looks like maybe 60 FB with a 50 or 60 SL and some decent control but no third pitch. Seems like an SP4 at best but I can't see him going through many lineups a 3rd time and the league might catch on to his repertoire quickly. Weird team.
  15. I think the ESPN debuts page shows it even if they did not play http://www.espn.com/mlb/debuts Not sure if box scores anywhere show phantom players but with twitter and stuff it's not hard to confirm active players
  16. honestly, why the f*** not. the season is a s*** show anyway. i don't see the harm in making the already unbalanced schedule even more unbalanced.
  17. Regardless, rookie mistakes are not really excusable from a second year MLB manager who was previously an MLB bench coach for 3 years and a minor league manager for like 18 years. He has more than enough experience.
  18. This is a guaranteed win. Toronto will hit 5 home runs.
  19. LOD is they are fair game two days after their first game played. I made the DDL rule slightly different - players debuting are fair game at 8 PM the day following their first day on the active roster (they don't have to actually play). I think DDL is different than all the other leagues for this then.
  20. Were you in a coma last year?
  21. Can we just give up on Vladdy at 1st already? Hard to imagine the team not always having a better defensive option there. Just make him a DH. There is a developmental curve there too (mental) so they might as well start it now.
  22. After Alford stole 2nd they had about a 75% win expectancy. The Espinal strikeout lowered it to 65.5%. Hard to say how much the bunt decision itself lowered run expectancy; Espinal might have whiffed even if swinging away. After Fisher walked they had a 75% win expectancy again. RE with 1st and 3rd one out is about 1.140 RE with 2nd and 3rd one out is about 1.352 Not only is the total RE higher with him on 2nd, the expectancy of getting one run is also probably higher as the double play is removed. So, if Fisher indeed has a 100% chance to get to 2nd they certainly have up a some odds of taking the lead. Honestly, I think a really sharp manager pinch hits for Espinal in that inning. I think he had already K'd hopelessly against Scherzer twice. McGuire was the only one on the bench IIRC. It's awkward, sure, and most managers wouldn't do it, but you're really just taking about Drury at SS, Vlad at 3B, and Reese or Jansen at 1st, if they take the lead maybe just for one half inning. Espinal's naked projection is to hit .243/.288 while McGuire's is to hit .241/.300, but when you factor in handedness you're probably looking at like a .050 expected AVG/OBP split vs. Scherzer.
  23. Sounds like a loser.
  24. Juan Soto not being able to play for a week due to DC regulations will probably get more airtime on MLB network, ESPN, etc. than the Blue Jays not being able to play at all in their own country. Not that I care.
  25. RE: Stroman and Bauer I don't see the Blue Jays signing any starting pitchers next offseason, aside from depth guys, unless there are some major injuries and/or developmental flops this year. Ryu Pearson Roark Anderson Thornton (pen?) Kay (AAA or pen) Borucki (AAA or pen) Hatch (AAA or pen) Waguespack (AAA or pen) Murray (AAA) Murphy (AAA or pen) SWR (AA) Manoah (AA) Winckowski (AA) The 2021 depth looks adequate even if you ignore the arms who are more probably relievers or very bad starters. Don't get me wrong, an addition like Trevor Bauer would be amazing but I just think Ryu was already their big addition with a mind to 2021.
