  1. Horseshit if Laureano gets more than a few games. The coach should get booted for the rest of the year. There needs to be a higher standard for coaches when it comes to this type of stuff.

The Bruins are a great watch if you mute their announcers. Everything Toronto wishes it was as a hockey team.

I don't think so. Half the hockey world is envious of Toronto's core. The other half is happy that Dubas and friends haven't been able to perfect the team but they aren't exactly a laughing stock.

Toronto would be better if they: - did not sign Taveras - kept Kadri - spent the savings on nearly any defensive upgrade(s) over Cody Ceci and friends.
  5. Interestingly, Vlad's average exit velocity is up this year. 2019: 89.4 mph 2020: 91.7 mph GB%: way up in 2020! Plate discipline stats don't seem far off. Making contact at about the same rate. I don't see why he should pull the ball any more or any less. This is a one dimensional batted ball profile issue; he just needs less GB and more LD+FB. It's sort of like Kevin Pillar's issues at the plate, just in someone with much more talent. Pillar has always had decent contact numbers but he makes such poor swing decisions that he hits a lot of balls meekly - weak groundballs and popups. Vlad is doing a bit of that this year and last. Swinging at bad pitches and because he is such a good hitter he makes contact and puts it in play. This is being magnified by not squaring up some hittable pitches too - timing is off or a mechanical issue on inside pitches. Unclear there; small sample, we are taking about a handful of pitches.

Imagine being a Leaves fan. So many good players and so awful.
  7. There's still a bit of hope. In terms of stuff, pedigree, and problems he is basically at the same stage as Touki Toussaint, who just dummied Toronto.
  8. That’s sort of how I got the job, actually. It was a Mister Convenience and thehurl was there.
  9. It has never really been a complaint about the results - people here aren't stupid. Everyone can recognize a puny sample size. It has been about the approach and batted ball profile. He arguably hasn't driven a ball in August. Four hits: two groundball doubles, the double last night which he was late on and sliced to RF (did not drive it), and the double against Atlanta which you could say was driven to the wall but still kind of looked like he missed it and it just carried. It's nice to see the plate discipline returning to the normal, 2019 levels but people are hoping for a lot more than 2019 Vlad. August Vlad just looks like 2019 Vlad. It's a start though! Really we just want something to click for him at some point between now and the early part of 2021. I guess.
  10. He's still learning how fat and slow he really is. Saw the throw go home and thought he was a swift young buck like Bo or Cavan and could dash into third.
  11. Toronto has serious issues if they can barely score against that human centipede of garbage pitchers. Terrible
  12. 3-1 fastball down the middle. Big brain Grichuk playing 6D chess takes it so he can hack into a DP next pitch
  13. Was wondering the same thing. I don’t remember if Borucki has been used a lot recently?
  14. Hello. As a new moderator I feel the need to point out that this post crossed a line. To explain, I think you've moved it beyond a baseball-related discussion with some unnecessary generalizations. I don't see the need for typing "the woke whites... are fueled by faux outrage... [and ironically] treat Jews like s***". I hope you can appreciate the line crossed. Consider this a warning!!!
  15. Please, nobody complain about Teoscar hitting 8th. He is probably not in their top 7 projected hitters. Lineup decisions based on who is "hot" are problematic.
  16. Has Anyone Really Been Far Even as Decided to Use Even Go Want to do Look More Like?
  17. It looks like Eloy thought he could bounce off the netting, wrestling ropes style.
  18. Tons of strikeouts as a minor league reliever last year. Old for the levels though. You should have known him!
  19. This is a math question. You might be completely correct. I'm just not confident the team is even doing to math. It seems like there is no plan and this was just a random decision by Charles.
  20. Robert and Eloy aside, the White Sox are just way further along. It's a lineup of veterans and young veterans with a couple of kids playing well. The Blue Jays are a lineup of babies with a couple of crummy young veterans. Moncada alone has more career PA than Bichette, Vlad, and Biggio combined. EE alone might have more career PA than the entire Blue Jays roster. Player (career PA) Blue Jays: Vlad 556 Biggio 474 Jansen 507 Bichette 245 Gurriel 641 Tellez 511 Teoscar 1234 Grichuk 2498 Shaw 2251 Sox: Robert 57 Eloy 549 Engel 1071 Moncada 1516 Garcia 1597 Anderson 2192 Grandal 3341 Abreu 3965 Edwin 7978
  21. I have thought about the Teoscar - Panik thing and have decided that it is not egregious in a nutshell but it is utterly confusing based on what else has happened this year. The central question is - is the team trying to win in 2020 or treating it as one last developmental year? When the team signed Joe Panik I thought it was a nice little pickup. He had been bad for two years but was quite good before that and is only 29. Panik and Teoscar actually have the same projected wOBA by Steamer. Let's just agree that 2020 statistics are not meaningful yet. People tend to under-appreciate how important the platoon advantage can be and casual observers are just not capable of mentally processing how to properly regress platoon splits. I am confident that, on paper, Panik over Teoscar improves the team's projected performance against a right handed pitcher. A team like the Rays would almost certainly play Panik over Teoscar if it was a binary choice in that context. However, we have already seen 11 PAs go to Santiago Espinal this year, and 7 PAs go to Anthony Alford. I believe they have both started multiple games when there were other options and it was not necessary. There is no projected scenario where either should be on the field if the team is trying to win, unless they are coming in as pinch runners or defensive replacements. This is a signal that the team is trying to give playing time to young players and prioritizing development over 2020 winning. Clearly if development is the goal Teoscar should play every day. I'm just not sure what the plan is and what is going on.
  22. I can ban you now you know
  23. All of the plate appearances against Toussaint have been awful. It's like they have no idea what they are doing, no plan whatsoever and no idea what Toussaint throws.
  24. someone shoop this
  25. I will be very triggered and it will ruin my night if Toronto gets dominated by Touki Toussaint
