  1. Dan Vogelbach is an interesting DFA. Not sure I'd want Toronto to grab him but maybe a slight upgrade?
  2. I think this analysis is correct. The Angels should be better than Texas but LA has already dug such a huge hole. Toronto actually has a very soft schedule coming up after 6 against Philly and Tampa. With Boston being horrendous the AL East is not a gauntlet at all: (win prob%) Aug 25, 2020 vs BOS 56.8% Aug 26, 2020 vs BOS 53.0% Aug 27, 2020 vs BOS 57.2% Aug 28, 2020 vs BAL 65.3% Aug 29, 2020 vs BAL 64.6% Aug 30, 2020 vs BAL 60.7% Aug 31, 2020 vs BAL 65.5% Sep 1, 2020 at MIA Sep 2, 2020 at MIA Sep 3, 2020 at BOS Sep 4, 2020 at BOS Sep 5, 2020 at BOS Sep 6, 2020 at BOS Then they have 17 tougher games (NYY x10, NYM x3, PHI x4) before finishing the season against Baltimore. Probably need to really do some work in the soft part because it's hard to imagine not losing a few games during the tough stretch.
  3. It's not the $/WAR league but $1M + an option is starting to look like a nice little deal for Dolis. He's not the easiest RP to watch because he does not throw a low of strikes but he is still managing to miss bats and limit damage. If he can increase the zone% a bit, he could be quite good.
  4. Offensively, that might be the worst 6-9 in the batting order in Blue Jays history.
  5. The strikeout rate is starting to look like an actual improvement. Too early to say for the BB rate (takes longer to stabilize).
  6. Pulling up my thinking gaitor so I can be like Charlie, here is what I have: 1) Danny Jansen sucks and I have no faith he will get a hit or even move the runners over with an out 2) The runners are slow. I am scared of the double play so I'll bunt to avoid it.
  7. What about the player development of not bunting? I don’t want Danny Jansen to learn to bunt. I want him to learn to hit dingers late with men on base. Making a young player bunt steals a chance to learn.
  8. Yeah it's mostly fastball command for Nate. He hasn't found it yet this year. He's actually underthrowing sometimes to try to find the zone, which isn't helping things.
  9. Nate Pearson is the pitching version of Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
  10. Guerrero is 88th percentile in average exit velocity and had the highest max exit velocity last season. Yeah, he hits the ball hard. If he ever figures it all out he will be like Judge/Stanton in terms of ridiculous laser home runs

people are posting this picture to say it was an elbow to the head: (mostly Americans who have never actually played hockey) Video makes it more than clear that it was as clean as a hit can be
  12. Yeah he looks fantastic there.
  13. The game plan was clearly to swing early and often at Cobb, who seems to just fill up the zone with his junk. Good on the team for not abandoning the plan after those six quick outs.
  14. well this is an annoying start to this game within an annoying season!!!
  15. Is Charlie not watching? Not complaining about Nunez standing almost directly behind the action is negligence. Has to be distracting for Ryu.
  16. It contains a ten year "personal services" option which will pay Pujols $10M to work for the organization after the contract ends (a front office or coaching role). That at least makes it a bit more awkward to cut him. There are milestone considerations too.
  17. He's doing a slow tear-down of his core. Mike Trout will be dealt soon enough.
  18. Tigers announce that Tarik Skubal, Casey Mize, and Isaac Paredes will all debut this week. Wow. None have played in AAA. Could have easily gamed service time on them next year.
  19. I'd like to say that I 100% agree but I only 90% agree because the team just does not have the depth at this point to do much of anything to fix the current roster. It's really just an IF depth problem. Drury and Panik are the issues. (Tellez is arguably a tiny issue if you think he should not an everyday player.) The team cannot f*** with Kirk, Martin, or Groshans in a s*** season like this. The other options on the 60 are Ruben Tejada, Kevin Smith, and Andy Burns. It's easy to say that Drury should be jettisoned immediately for one of them but Ruben Tejada is 31 and has a lower career wRC+ than Drury and was last productive in 2015. Kevin Smith was dogshit in AA last year so that would be real desperation to rush him. Andy Burns is also nearly 31 but probably deserves a shot more than Drury out of pure f***ing loyalty to the organization. So there's a weak argument to jettison Drury but zero rational argument to dump Panik. This ignored potential FA infielders. Toronto should absolutely be spamming waiver claims to upgrade these nobodies.
  20. RE: Drury, it's like the organization is scared of getting Urshela'd. He's a year younger than Gio.
  21. Pretty hard to evaluate without any data from this year. Two college RHP at or near the top but I don’t see anyone comparable to Torkelson or Martin as far as College bats go. I think I remember reading that it is a deep class in round 1 but again, who the f*** will even know with so much baseball being cancelled in 2020.
  22. Realistic shot at #2 with Bichette's injury. Nobody should catch Pittsburgh though.
  23. Has Randal Grichuk improved his approach? Career best BB and K rates so far. If he can bring the old power back into the equation...
