  1. Yes if Santander and Varsho had been healthy all season, it skews the Jays team numbers back to normalcy. That adds pop and strikeouts and tanks the batting average a bit.
  2. Candidates: Stieb Halladay Delgado Bautista ... Tony Fernandez? Not sure there are any other candidates! Personally I think it is Halladay. Best career of all of them. Thoroughly beloved while he was a Blue Jays. Kind of the most transcendent of all four. Slightly tainted by the post Jays stuff... HOF hat debacle and revealed drug use.
  3. When humidity goes up air density goes DOWN. It's counter-intuitive but true. Humid air is less dense. Something to do with water molecules being lighter. People think of certain humid areas with tough stadiums like SFG but most of that is wind and temperate, not humidity effects. However, humidity might have other effects like on ball density and s***.
  4. wait, does the weather have a disproportionate effect on runs in Colorado? the ball flies a bit more when it heats up, everywhere
  5. Those Rays teams always strikeout a lot more though. As a total package, more like some of the Astros teams from 2016 to present.
  6. Yeah it would suck to end up as the 3rd best division lender or god forbid a lowly wild card entrant. I can't stomach another wild card series.
  7. Just did a Fangraphs search for all of the affiliated minors, minimum 40 IP K% leaderboard 1. Travis Sykora (just blew out his elbow) 2. Ryan Brown but he's 22 in A ball and walks everybody 3. Johnny King 42.2% 4. Trey Yesavage 41.9% Yes, Toronto has 2 of the top 4. And #9 in Javen Coleman and #17 in Gage Stanifer. And they traded #18, Mr. Kendry Rojas. Yes. The Toronto Blue Jays have a little whiff factory going in the minors.
  8. 75% to win division 67% to clinch a bye 98% to make playoffs 9% to win the world series
  9. run differential matters more the more games have been played, obviously most teams have some outlier series within a long season and it all evens out basically, ignore run differential unless you just played the Rockies at Coors in August then it matters again. this has been my Ted talk
  10. Toronto is hitting .270 as a team Super elite in this era. Next best team is .258. The league hits .246.
  11. Not sure that number even includes yesterday's game yet
  12. Top 5 offense Best defensive team in baseball
  13. Ohtani finally back to Unicorn status. Probably enough time left for him to pump up his pitching WAR and snag the MVP yet gain. 4 IP with 8 Ks today also leading off and has a two run HR
  14. I remember the Jays blowing a decent lead in Colorado two years ago!
  15. That was an incredible swing by Bo. Elite hitter stuff.
  16. 1 almost HR 3 lineouts just not getting lucky
  17. Ally Roden playing CF and hit a HR off a lefty leading off go Ally
  18. Disgusting. Entire bench unit gets deployed. Obviously Loperfido needed the day off. Kirk probably has a scheduled day off since he's fresh off the IL. Same for Varsho. That just leaves Barger. Mental break day for the guy I guess. Some bad defense lately. Looks like Anthony Volpe.
  19. Jays acquired the best SP moved at the deadline AND perhaps the most "valuable" RP moved at the deadline AND Sir Anthony Doh Mingoose AND Tyler France. c'mon.
  20. Following the 2017 to 2019 rebuild, Shatkins Blue Jays will have either made the playoffs or won 90+ games in every season other than 2024. Pretty good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And everyone still cries.
