  1. Some people have the rather ugly habit if completely ignoring any messages or trade offers that they don't like. The trick with jaysblue is to send him a lot of really s***** offers and annoy him to the point that he'll grace you with a "lol no" reply.
  2. Cool now project playing time. Craig is worth about as much as Carlos Quentin. You should just admit defeat and drop him for the dogs (and Kat) to fight over.
  3. Just fireballing here but maybe they weren't lowballs. Maybe you're highballing.
  4. Watching Dinger pretend that Allen Craig has any value has been rather fascinating
  5. Well if the D-Bags don't really have any designs in competing this year, then what's the point of plugging a hole with some fat Mexican on a 1 year contract?
  6. Maybe sparks Navarro trade. Probably not though. Before this, if Navarro bumped Gosewich to backup and Hernandez off the roster, it would have meant returning Hernandez to Tampa. Now they can DL Hernandez for some time and have a couple of months to evaluate both Navarro as the starter and Gosewich as the backup.
  7. Ignore math and reason for a second. Let's just throw names on the wall and see what's pretty. Bautista ----> Pillar Donaldson ----> Valencia Martin ----> Navarro Stroman ----> Norris/Sanchez Three position players who are replaced by junk. A pitcher that is replaced by a top prospect. What's the biggest delta, kiddo?
  8. Yeah, Donaldson, Martin, and Bautista would all be probable ~4 win losses in a full season. Stroman currently is something like a 2-3 win loss, depending on if someone else gets hurt. If all you care about is entertainment though, then he could definitely be thatoneguy.
  9. Well, I guess it's more of a back-end issue than a depth issue. They have one shut down guy (Cecil) one setup guy (Loup) and then about a dozen that you would project close to replacement level. You could certainly call it a depth issue if you want. The depth at the back-end of the bullpen is lacking. They could use more shut down arms for sure. The problem is, it's extremely, extremely inefficient to acquire guys that would project as shut down arms. And the optimist would say that shut down bullpen arms come out of nowhere every year. They rise from the ranks of the "replacements" and cement themselves as really f***ing good. Remember when Andrew Miller was a sad failed prospect? When Dellin Betances was a lost cause that couldn't throw strikes? Who saw Pat Neshek turning into an elite reliever? But, the pessimist would say that banking on that happening to your team is a terrible idea. Maybe bullpen arms are so random that the Blue Jays have actually got it right this year by acquiring a bunch of intriguing minor league guys to fill it out. We'll see. In the team's defense, some of them have been really effective in recent memory (Lopez and Delabar).
  10. Dickey is the best. He's the only one who really deviates from sports interview cliches.
  11. I'd expect Matt Boyd and Taylor Cole to both be in AA/AAA and essentially auditioning for a potential mid-season call up in the wake of this injury. Castro could get an aggressive assignment or early promotion as well.
  12. If you go to Fangraphs "Positional Depth Charts" and look at C, the Diamondbacks are listed at #31. #1 - San Francisco #2 - Toronto ... #30 - Remaining Free Agents (Ryan Doumit and Brett Hayes) #31 - Arizona

    holy f*** Pavelec is awful
  14. Young guys Cedric Paquette and Dmitrij Jaskin are available for upgrades. Google them! They're good! Both have offensive upside. Jaskin has 109 hits in 38 games. Paquette has 105 hits + 51 blocks in 55 games (both while playing third line minutes, although Jaskin has been getting increased playing time). Trying to win now so needs to be a clear playoff upgrade for my team.
  15. holy f*** Gourd
  16. Gutsy move googling "boner gif" just for that
  17. Shaun Marcum served one up to Welington Castillo a bit later too. Marcum's last MLB highlight was "Marcum pitches with dragonfly on his hat" from 2013.
  18. Shoot for the moon. Joint MBA/JD. Grades would matter.
  19. Go to Trent. Wonderful town; beautiful setting; unmatched education.
  20. Abrupt career endings while a guy is still at the top of his game are never fun. Hopefully Cliff gets right and has a few more seasons. With his repertoire he could probably sit 88 and still be a solid #3.
  21. I was just piling on. I'm disturbed that you assumed I was on his side of the dumb fence.
  22. Or maybe, if Toronto gets desperate, Cahill + ~$7M for Navarro?
  23. I also traded you Pompey and Norris this offseason, lol.
