  1. There are a couple of guys who signed MLB deals, not subject to spending limits, in the last year but they aren't in the database yet. The question, really, is what do we want to do with them, and a hypothetical Olivera signing which occurs just before our draft. The fairest process of talent distribution has us putting them in the draft now, but since they aren't in Yahoo it's kind of annoying for obvious reasons. Yahoo doesn't really put the young guys in the system so a 'database' or 'contract' based rule would both do the same thing for the kids like Moncada.
  2. New rule: Only players that have been added to the Yahoo database prior to the beginning of the draft will be eligible. The lone exception to this rule is international free agents who have signed MLB contracts before our waiver draft begins, were not subject to international spending limits, but are not yet in Yahoo's system. Such players could reasonably be expected to spend a significant amount of time in the major leagues during the upcoming year so they will be included in our waiver draft.
  3. I don't know if we've every decided on this rule, but is everyone in agreement that international free agents who are young enough to be subject to international spending limits (Moncada, Yadier Alvarez, Yoan Lopez, Roberto Baldoquin) are not Waiver Draft eligible? That's our line in the sand, right? Have we talked about this before?
  4. No, I'll amend the rules so that it reads different.
  5. We'll just start on Sunday. Not in any rush.
  6. Yup, KK owns him and kept him (list posted here). He accidentally selected Dan Hudson as a keeper on Yahoo which lead to the oversight.
  7. SS/CF so should go high. #2 is too high for a guy with a projected wRC+ in the 80s though. Talent thins out in the first round so he should be top 15 or so.
  8. BP ranks the Jays' farm 10th. Cubs Twins Dodgers Rangers Mets Red Sox DBags Pirates Rockies Jays ... 21. Yankees 22. Orioles 24. Rays

danglefactory is the site. I use it for 50/50s and enter the odd tournament by picking my own team (cheap goalie + linemates playing EDM or BUF, lol).
  11. Cool, North goes TCA-TCA-Me to finish the last three weeks of the season. Divisional gauntlet. And TCA goes North-North-Dinger. I smell another 9th place finish...
  12. BALCO twice for me. Probably the biggest rivalry in the division so it makes sense, but I also should not have made fun of BTS as he was making the schedule.

  14. It's complicated but maybe you can run a simple regression to figure it out?
  15. Scrap weeks 1 and 2 as rivalry weeks. Make 20 and 21 rivalry weeks. Every team plays every other team in the league once during weeks 1-19 (I think this is important for both fun and parity). In weeks 20 and 21, three teams from each division will get to play 2 division rivals (ideally random). The remaining two teams in each division will have to play 1 divisional game and 1 out-of-division game. I think it just has to be that ^ way with 5 teams per division.
  16. There is one 93 on the spreadsheet and you own it now, so as far as I'm concerned that was the trade. Speedy owns 96 and thehurl owns 95.
  17. The rules say that rosters are frozen between now and the waiver draft, but that's not really necessary. We'll just mandate that any trades of MLB assets be equal (1 for 1, 2 for 2, etc) so that the waiver pool is constant and unchanging right now. Waiver pick swaps should also be equal on both sides. We will continue our practice of "dissolving" any excess picks as soon as the first selection is made in the draft (only one person has an extra pick right now - Gibbers).
  18. It can get tricky since we have 5 teams per division, so with an odd number of teams you can't just have certain weeks be 'divisional matchup' weeks. But if you tinker for a bit you can end up with something fair enough.
  19. Doesn't look like you can do a two week final right now with Yahoo. In the past we've set it up so that most teams play a division rival in the final week or two, and the teams that you play twice should be a division rival for the most part.
  20. Waiver pick #65 was not existent on the spreadsheet. Originally it was KK's. 21. No. I haven't tweaked it yet but congrats, it's your job now.
