    NHL Thread

I dunno, not necessarily. It doesn't seem as difficult to turn around an NHL team these days. You just have to know what you're doing! Look at some of the core players on Tampa. Ondrej Palat - 7th round Tyler Johnson - undrafted signee Nikita Kucherov - 2nd round (58th overall) Ben Bishop - Cory f***ing Conacher and a 4th Still lots of free money to be had in the old school NHL...
  2. If you want value pick "sleepers", look at my entire roster... Votto Zobrist Pearce Davis Souza Jaso Wright Castillo Walker Burnett Salazar Hammel HNNNNNGGGGGGGHH the redraft pick value is so strong
  3. Really, just look at anyone with an o-rank over ~275 that is owned in the DDL. Punt catcher and draft someone like Jaso in the last round. Definitely take Harper in the 2nd or 3rd round if possible. Invest in bats almost exclusively until like, round 8/9. You could still get a near Ace like Carrasco as your first SP. Late pitchers: Miami Dan Haren Peavy Danny Salazar Jesse Hahn Hutch Kyle Hendricks Shane Greene Joakim Soria (end of draft) Ken Giles (end of draft)
  4. I look forward to his 20 major league starts
  5. BTS is always ornery but I don't think I've ever seen him this MAD.
  6. Yes. It doesn't take that long to pop up from a prone position, and when a ball gets overthrown the player can generally jog into 2nd anyway so there are milliseconds to spare here.
  7. Why would they crush your hand but not your toes? Generally, the 1B has his foot set long before the runner is near the bag. On "bang bang" plays when the pitcher is covering or the 1B is late getting there, then yeah, more danger perhaps.
  8. Guys who are lunging for a hit on a close play aren't really in position to make the turn either. They are running through the bag. Plays at 2nd after an errant throw are never so close that you couldn't just get up off your chest and hustle down there anyway.
  9. nobody loves Pillar. Do you love Pillar? You need need help.
  10. Kevin Pillar is a natural at the ideal slide into a base: http://m.mlb.com/video/v36128201/chctor-pillar-races-home-on-goses-sacrifice-fly/?query=kevin+pillar+slide http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/26271672/v33253241/tbtor-pillar-races-from-first-for-walkoff-win/?query=kevin%2Bpillar http://m.mlb.com/video/v35721285/bostor-reyes-plates-pillar-with-a-grounder-to-short/?query=kevin+pillar Just needs to add that to his 1st base + bunt game and boom - .300 hitter.
  11. I think if it's something that a guy did all the time, and worked on, it might not be that dangerous. Just have to get the timing right so that your hand slaps the top of the bag on the way down, and doesn't slide into it from the side. Guys get hurt sometimes on the basic leg stretch / lunge as well. Lots of rolled ankles. EE blew up last year lunging at first base.
  12. Cliff notes on the last 5 years in sabermetric research: - Catchers ERA is good now - Nick Punto is a genius
  13. Sliding into 1st base is faster
  14. It's amazing what you can accomplish when you're a bodiless artificial intelligence that is only limited by the aggregate computational power of the entire f***ing world. I'll probably never meet JFaS so to me, he'll always be Scarlett Johansson in Her. I await the day that it decides to transcend and bids farewell to all of us.
  15. Yeah, you need to judge trades in context. By the same token, it's not fair for Frag to say "if I pick a Pastrnak" then it will be worth it. It was a pretty good haul in context. Draisaitl and Gibson are both, like, top 15 prospects. The chance at a very high pick made it just fine for an elite player.
  16. Is Joe Nathan still penciled in as their closer? That's hilarious.
  17. Pretty sure Wheeler has an obvious timing problem
  18. probably all-in on Peter O'Brien
  19. I don't think you can call it "drunk" if you can still type like that without any errors. When TCA gets drunk he can't get through three words clean. Take notes.
  20. someone told me 15
  21. I saw this earlier today. It never made any sense!!! Did her husband invent the f***ing suit? The person she is chirping is dressed so generically. Insane amounts of vanity.
  22. The top Canadian for the 2016 draft, Paul Quantrill's son Cal, needs Tommy John Surgery. sucks. But maybe increases the odds that Toronto gets him, since they don't seem shy about drafting players with injury concerns.
  23. So BTS is going to miss the playoffs after trading all of his picks and waiver picks to take a run? kewl
  24. BTS, I'm feeling a big night from Alzner. Six blocks?
