I think it's super gimmicky, yeah. But less gimmicky than a shootout. I just f***ing love endless OT in playoff hockey. It's my favourite sports thing.

1 on 1 would actually be better than a shootout, lol. When I was 11 we were in the finals of a tournament and the OT format was 5v5 for 5 minutes, 4v4 for 4 minutes, 3v3 for 3, 2v2 for 2, and then 1v1 for 1 minute until someone scored. I got the second shift of the 1 on 1. Got the faceoff, turned around in my own zone to get some speed, and then tried to hows-she-goin the other guy but f***ed up and hit his skate. He obviously kicked it forward for a breakaway and scored. In hindsight, I made a terrible choice - should have protected the puck more than anything and just tried to burn him wide. I still have nightmares about it. This is why I'm risk-averse to a fault, to this day.

I agree. Shootouts should be rare... I don't have the stats but as it is I think they must occur much more often than OT resolutions.

I'd actually prefer that they spent the extra $100M on the stadium, to be honest. Part of this upgrade should go to purchasing the rights to 'SkyDome'. Rogers SkyDome! Fulfil your destiny! -
I will be so upset if they go to 3 on 3... If the NHL wants less shootouts, then they should remove incentives to go to overtime in the first place. That means get rid of the 3 point games, and the point system all together. You win or lose and that's it! They should also make overtime longer. Five minutes of 4 on 4 is stupid as it is, and too brief. I would want 10 minutes of 5 on 5 and then 10 minutes of 4 on 4, and if it's still tied, fine. Shootout. That's just me though... could also do 5 and 5 minutes if they don't want four hour games.

There's just two ways of answering that type of question. One way (you) is to say that I think player X is going to be this good. The other way is to say that player X has a range of possible outcomes of varying likelihood. He could be so good, or so bad, or somewhere in the middle. The most rational thing to assume is that he's somewhere in the middle. Do you think a 50th percentile outcome for McDavid has him being as good as Crosby? If you simulate Connor McDavid's career 100,000 times, what would be the most common outcome?

I have no idea why Salvador Perez gets franchise player attention. There are mother f***ing PITCHERS that I would take before him. He's a solid above average, young backstop, but he's so f***ing overrated.

I'm thinking there had to be some misunderstanding of the question. Maybe they thought they weren't for sure anonymous so they wanted to give lip service to their own players, or maybe the question was worded in such a way to illicit creative out of the box responses.

His ceiling is basically another Crosby, but you couldn't reasonably expect him to be that. If Mike Trout is the ceiling of a hypothetical #1 super prospect in baseball, then Bryce Harper to date might be the reasonable projection. Ben Zobrist is Bergeron. Check the WARz over the last 3 years for that analogy. But, I can't see EDM trading a guy who has a Crosby/Trout ceiling, even if the trade makes sense in the world of likely outcomes and projections and spreadsheets.

Wintersleep is an amazing band that deserves more fans. Not sure if there's much commercial material there though. Why not just use Drake, lol? Bring back #TeamUnit but cut the Leafs out and embrace the Raptors. ha
