  1. But the Super Two status provisions in the CBA are a clear attempt to ameliorate a recognized issue. Although I suppose its entirely possible that this was recognized as an issue just not in this exact way, or to this exact degree, in past negotiations. If the issue was fully discussed and unpacked and these CBA terms were decided on, then the team is in the good. If it was never really addressed fully in negotiations then the "manipulation" by the teams doesn't look as kosher. The fact that teams themselves don't admit to manipulating service time, ever, kind of shows that they don't necessarily think that they are in the clear.
  2. MLBPA getting bent out of shape about the instrumental use of the CBA that they fairly agreed to is rich. They had the opportunity to address this stuff in the recent round of bargaining and they chose not to. It's not like this type of service time manipulation is brand new.
  3. I like how there are Cubs fans that are mad about the Cubes trading 2 weeks of Bryant's 2015 season for his entire 2021 season. Maybe the solution is to give teams a form of RFA control for a 7th season if the player was on an opening day roster to begin their first year (ignoring Sept callups previously) and ends up accruing exactly 6.000 years of service time before a future offseason. So you would still let the player become a free agent, but it would be restricted in the sense that they could only field 1 year offers and their controlling team would get a right of first refusal - a chance to match or let them walk. I read this idea on a blog a few weeks ago. ESPN?
  4. Wooo let's do this. Can van get payback for 2011? I think he probably can. But will he? No, he probably wont. Go me. jk go you http://cache.boston.com/multimedia/sports/bigshots/nhl_stanley_cup_2011/bs1.jpg

    There's a debate?

Yeah that site is garbage. It's amazing how valuable Carey Price is. If Toronto and Montreal traded goalies I bet Toronto would be in the playoffs and Montreal would be in like 8th/9th.

Oh yeah. Should be a slam dunk.
  8. I guess I'll just keep Raisel since most people seem to agree that it's not unfair. I think the confusion about Iglesias having to play in a game first comes from the "MLB Debut Waivers" rule in LoD + the fact that historically Yahoo does not add players to the system during the year unless they play a game first. Also, SVG, the Raisel Despaigne joke did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
  9. Gibbers certainly doesn't blow up your inbox when he's trying to make a deal. Jaysblue must just know how to talk to him.
  10. Pretty disappointing that Floyd breaks in spring and Danny Kluber still can't make the rotation. Sigh...
  11. At this point I'm expecting to drop him early. Pray for a Kenny Vargas PED suspension so he can DH.
  12. I didn't notice him in the system until today, as a FA. Yahoo must have added him a few days ago and he cleared waivers without anyone noticing. He most definitely was not in the system at any point during our waiver draft.
  13. Basically the division that we decided to do was... International free agents subject to spending restrictions = domestic prospects who did not hit AA (cannot be waiver drafted, must MLB debut to be added). International free agents not subject to spending restrictions = domestic prospects who did hit AA (can be waiver drafted, are free agents (anyone want Luke Jackson?)). We treated Aledmys Diaz as a legal claim last year I think. http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/25-A-Very-Darrelly-Dynasty-League/page234 You can see all discussion on the issue this season starting here http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/25-A-Very-Darrelly-Dynasty-League/page716?highlight=international If there was mass confusion on this then it's my fault and I would have no issue dropping him
  14. I just realize that with me being the head honcho the optics aren't that great.
  15. So Raisel Iglesias is in the system and cleared waivers without anybody noticing. I added him to my roster... but I'm not sure if it's fair or if we should make him hit waivers again. Please chime in.
  16. Terrible post.
  17. He relieved in a handful of games in 13/14. But really what's the f***ing point when the guy can't post a 7 K/9 in the IL + his stuff just looks weak. Something the Jays used to do to an annoying extent was to give absolutely everyone a legitimate look. Jo-Jo Reyes being the crown jewel. Part of me kind of likes the current 'fast and loose' front office that isn't afraid to cut guys they don't love.
  18. That would seem like a terrible decision. What would his recourse be?
  19. Blue Jays pick 29th... probably no chance he falls that far considering where Giolito and Fedde went. Although the Nats don't have a pick this year.
  20. This looks like it could be one of those "bad advice" horror stories. When a team offers you 6.5M, does a physical that shows structural damage and only drops your bonus by 1.5M.... you f***ing take it. Someone is an idiot.
  21. He looks like a husk of his former self. Casey Janssen circa 2012 had more juice on his pitches
  22. Taijuan Walker looks ready to emerge as a legit Ace (finally!)
