  1. The only apparent hole Reyes would leave is a lead off type bat, but i think Pompey or Toritani could fill in without losing much OBP. The only downfall though is Reyes has the better average, which is valuable with men on base. The defensive upgrade would make up for that and more.
  2. I was watching a lot of recent video on Toritani and i have to say his arm is a little better than i originally thought. His arm is better than Kawasaki's by a decent stretch, but weaker than Reyes' and Goins'. His footwork and quick release can make up a lot of it though, like Ozzie Smith did. He's overall a better defender at SS than Reyes hands down. He seems to have decent bat control and pitch recognition and should get on base at a decent clip ( .330-.350) in the majors, but his batting average will definitely drop in the MLB ( .250ish is my guess), but who cares if he can get on base. With Travis waiting in the wings and Reyes not apparently going anywhere soon, it seems like a stretch that AA will sign him, unless it's for one year with a team option. I honestly wouldn't have a problem if AA were to somehow unload Reyes somewhere and sign Toritani to 3/10 type deal, the guy is a good looking athlete. Trading Reyes is not happening, but imagine the payroll that would be set free to use elsewhere? Wow..
  3. Slightly.
  4. I didn't ask you to do all that but i do appreciate the time you spent. I just don't like the "let's roll with Goins" comments when i'm admitting he's a long shot at best in sticking as a starter. I'm just hoping for the guy to turn his offense around because i would love that defense on the field all the time.
  5. 1.5 yes, his defense is that good.
  6. Yes, lets roll with Goins. Little s*** disturber extrodinare.
  7. I'm hoping Travis makes the team right out of Spring Training, f*** it. Let's hope Gibby and AA is savvy enough to take Goins up with them and use him a late inning defensive replacement for Reyes. Reyes' ego will surely take a hit, but f*** him.
  8. What salary? Navarro is in his last year at $5mil, while Infante has two years left at $10mil per.
  9. He is. I think Infante has two years left at $10mil per. The Royals are listening to offers for him and i think Infante will get back to his old numbers with a scenery change and a hitter friendly park. The Hispanic angle could help also. Not a horrible DH replacement while saving $5 mil a season.
  10. What's their DH situation like now that Butler is gone? Navarro at $5mil can put up similar if not better numbers than Butler.
  11. Holy f***, i said it was a stretch on my part. Don't you f***ing read? STFU and stop trying to cause s***.
  12. AA should try and steal Infante from the Royals and keep Goins on the 25 man as a late inning defensive replacement. Navarro for Infante? Is it feasible?
  13. Maybe it's a stretch, but he possesses the physical to do so, unlike Kawasaki.
  14. He has the power, easily. Just has to put together good AB's.
  15. I just had just seen a report on SN yesterday (i think) that claims his arm doesn't play at SS in the MLB.
  16. Let me ask you this.. If he hits .245 / .300 / .390 over the course of a full season, will he put up a 2.0 ?
  17. This is a perfect example on how you guys view players as "non human", and just go by numbers, whether the 600 PA were derived in one season,or over the course of three to four seasons. For anyone who has personally been in a competitive on the fence type atmosphere like Goins or Pillar and similar types, then you would no how it feels to feel the pressure to perform in a small window of time or else get demoted. Of any professional sport, baseball is by far the worst sport to play in these types of conditions. Before Goins was called up for the first time, you all were speculative regarding his defense, even though there were several posters here that claimed he was a superior defender at SS and 2B based on what we witnessed at Bisons' games. Board "this doesn't mean he'll perform well defensively in the MLB" What? Why? Because the ball parks in the bigs play different? I'm just making this point because it was f***ing ludicrous to make such a statement, and because some projection on fangraphs says so. Now i know Goins will probably never hit well enough to land a starting gig in the show (barring an injury), but i see enough in his swing that can possibly change that. I can honestly see him,if given a guaranteed amount of playing time, hit in the .250 / .300 / .390 range, but that's JMO. If so, combined with his defense, would a viable middle infield option if the team he plays for has a lot of offense in the line up. You may think i sound old fashioned for saying this but, defense is a really important thing, especially up the middle. There are many intangibles that don't show up in advanced metrics, such as pitch count saved, thus improving the pitcher's mind set for example. I'm not denying this Japanese kid can play, but his arm in the bigs can only play at 2B, otherwise he's a below average defender. He's not throwing out speedy left handed hitters from the whole at SS in the bigs, and not many fast RHB either. He's a defensive liability at SS, regardless of his glove. He may be able to get away with playing 3B in short spurts if needed, but not much else except 2B. I'd rather roll the dice with Izturis/Goins at 2B for a few months and hope Travis plays well enough in Buffalo and gets called up. Use the $4mil per on RP or another decent outfield bench option with speed.
  18. Not a fair assessment when playing in spurts. Over the course of consistent play for a season, Goins is a 1.5 - 2 WAR player.
  19. Are you on drugs? This guy hasn't seen one MLB game in his life and you're saying he's better than Derek Jeter? GTFO. "his reputation" LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
  20. Want to bet Goins is not a negative WAR player? Where the f*** you get this s*** from?
  21. Research, try it sometimes. You argue like he can play a MLB SS. How do you know this may I ask?
  22. Look it up, I did.
  23. He can't play a MLB SS is all I'm saying. Noodle arm.
  24. Just stop. He's not an MLB SS.
