    Yeah I'm finding it odd that SD didn't wait closer to the deadline... Gotta think they could have gotten multiple solid prospects closer to the major league level if they had waited a bit longer. Maybe they know/don't like something about Pomeranz and they wanted to offload him ASAP.

    That's exactly what I'm getting at. At least with Upton and Jones they can play a premium defensive position, so they're still serviceable. If Bautista or Edwin stop hitting, they are literally useless. Like Fielder and Pujols

    You're assuming Edwin and Jose will continue to be effective for several more years, but is a gamble. They're already all-bat players, if their batspeed declines to a point where they can't catch up to fastballs... Also consider the fact that we would be paying 20+million per year for each of them, and they are both 1B/DH players.

    Its a bit different for pitchers vs hitters. A power hitter would probably love RC compared to say... Kauffman stadium. For a pitcher, I would expect the opposite.

    Yeah my bad on Adam Lind, last time I checked his stats was like a month or two ago and he was doing very well. Forget him. But I will stick by my opinion that Reddick + Moss is probably not much dropoff compared to Jose + Edwin. I'm not expecting Edwin and Jose to be this good for the next few years. The decline probably starts soon.

    There's also a lot of guys like you who think we ARE f***ed if we don't sign them, which is not the case. Adam Lind is available, Brandon Moss, Josh Reddick... All great players that can likely be signed for under 20 million a season. There are other shrewd signings to be made too. Also potential trades. Even without Bautista and Edwin, we still have Donaldson/Tulo to anchor the lineup. With strong-average hitters throughout the rest of the lineup, and an improved pitching staff, the team could still be strong enough without Edwin/Bautista.

    I agree that people shouldn't be texting and driving, but the commercial is still a bit jarring to see. Plus I have to think that people that DO text and drive don't pay attention to commercials anyways.
