    Maybe Springer’s bat IS actually sustainable... Would be huge if we got 1 more good year from him offensively. Not expecting 2025 numbers but 120ish wRC+ would be stellar

    Agree on all fronts. Similar as the decision to stash Yesavage in AAA to start the year. These are great business decisions, but terrible for player-relations and optics

    Sure, but he easily could have pitched the quarter or semi and they could’ve moved other guys back/forward a day to accommodate. He pitched a spring training game the 1 day in betweenthe QF against Canada and the Semi against DR. Yamamoto pitched the QF because Japan knew that was a tougher matchup than facing one of Italy/PR in the semis. Skubal easily could have pitched one of those games if he wanted to, don’t make excuses for him. It was a half-assed lame attempt to pretend he cared.

    Always frustrates me when they find these things 2-3 weeks out from opening day… Like, Berrios/Santander couldn’t spend a few days seeing specialists in the offseason to find this stuff quicker?

    Dont forget CY young Skubal deciding he just didn’t wanna pitch because he didn’t want to move his start day forward by 1 day.

    No real cleanup hitter is true, but im not sure it matters when the entire lineup is above-average anyways. Our 7-9 has to be one of the best in the league

    Crazy that stacked USA roster couldn’t win it. Ultimately the offense went cold and they didn’t have a true starter for this final game. Gotta think they were likely to win this with Skubal starting. What a bum

    Honestly, feels like however you setup the lineup its very interchangeable depending on who gets hot/who is cold. Like, Okamoto could hit anywhere from 2nd-6th, Varsho pretty much anywhere, Ernie could be moved up if he’s hot, Barger… who knows! Really the only lock is Vlad 3rd and Springer 1st (as long as he doesn’t regress terribly)
