    For a front office that puts such an emphasis on good D, they do these things sometimes that really make me scratch my head. Has Springer never played LF? Didn’t they think to give Barger reps in LF in case one of Varsho/KK got injured?

    Montoyo didn’t have the balls. And now it’s basically gone on too long for a benching to mean anything. Gotta teach these things in the formative years.

    Except he didn’t break into the league with a 6 WAR season. His numbers were very underwhelming (for the hype) at first. He didn’t breakout until his 3rd year in the majors. It was seen as maturing and progression at the time but now its seeming more and more likely that it was just an outlier.

    We all know they probably SHOULD go the Rays route and trade both guys in the offseason (if the team struggles in the playoffs like they have) But we know they’ll likely stand pat and lose both guys for draft picks. Does Vlad even have any value if he repeats 2023?? Likely not. With our luck, Bo and Vlad both have disastrous years and then we hold both because their value is 0.

    That’s pretty shocking honestly. Dude was a beast last year and its only like 3 weeks into the season. Not saying its the wrong move, but its bold.

    I really don’t think the Vladdy hate is panicking. We’re just accepting that he was extremely overrated as a prospect and therefore continues to be extremely overrated despite putting up very mediocre numbers for a 1B.

    Of course I played. Im also smart enough to understand im not going to sway the ump’s call by calling myself safe. And with replay available now, its not like you’re going to fool anyone. Balls and strikes are way more understandable when players get upset over, because umps get those wrong often and its hard to know in the moment.

    I can’t believe this dude is still a Vladdy knob goblin after all these years. Vlad deserves to be roasted, he brings 0 defensive value to the team and he’s an average bat for a 1B at best.
