    Yeah this. A typical 120ish wRC Bo right now would probably have fetched more at the deadline vs last offseason. Deadline deals are always overpays, always better to make trades then.

    This is dumb, of course they were trying to contend in 2024 and they should have. The roster was solid. And Bo should have been a valuable trade piece (and might still be) at the deadline in a worst-case-scenario which this season has been so far.

    At this point, they should start entertaining/feeling out trades and be preparing to get rid of anyone entering free agency after the season. Only way they should even consider “holding” or “buying” is if the team goes on a 15 game win streak.

    You’re right, i’d much rather be giving at bats to KK and Clement over DS. Nevermind the fact that he’s still 5th on the team in wRC+ and 2nd in ISO / 3rd in SLG %. But sure he has 1 slump and now he’s reduced to a platoon guy, great thinking!

    Remember when people claimed Varsho turned a corner?? Remember when people said Romano was an elite closer and he’d be fine? Remember when people said Jansen should be DHing? That Turner should be sitting? That we wished Springer was injured? Things change quick.

    Right Springer looked good for the first like week of the season before falling off a cliff Point still stands for many of the pitchers though. Specifically remember lots suggesting Swanson was rushed back and that Romano didn’t look sharp

    Same with Swanson, and Romano. And Springer. None of these guys looked good coming into the start of the season and some of us were a bit worried, but others said “the front office knows better” Well, turns out the initial judgements were correct
