  1. I see the trolling was too subtle. My apologies.
  2. It's as dumb a thing as you can say on a legitimate baseball board. You may feel the need to guide him through this period of ignorance, but I don't. Furthermore, that's not even sarcastic advice. If he plans on posting here in the future, something that stupid will just be thrown in his face by other posters in subsequent arguments. Better to torch the evidence 1 post in.
  3. Oh I see. Then 40% isn't "way" high.
  4. Did Fernandez have a better age 21 year than Strasburg in terms of building a future projection off of? I think that's highly debatable. Strasburg at 21 had an all time great college season. 195 Ks, 19 BBs in 108 innings. That's as absurd as any statline you'll see. He was basically the best pitching prospect ever. If Fernandez "touches 100 and sits mid 90s", 2010 Strasburg touched 103 and sat upper 90s. Fernandez's stuff is great obviously but Strasburg pre-injury was probably the best we've ever seen from a starting pitcher. That's not how that term is commonly applied.
  5. I think that's way high.
  6. Lind's a top 5 1B bro. Maybe top 3 all things considered.
  7. Yah, he's not a surefire fantasy monster by any stretch. But his shortstopedness and age/level make him an absolutely primo real baseball prospect. 91 wRC+ with good SS defense next year? Yes plz.
  8. But we can't trade him hez an omgsuperduperstar!!! Profar is a bust Wacha is Roger Clemens ARod should be banned forevers roflcopter.
  9. Indeed. This is one of the stupidest common narratives among casuals.
  10. I think you should delete your account. This was not a good start.
  11. Easy. Why does everyone have to speak with such hyperbole? Fernandez isn't even the best pitching prospect of the last 5 years (Strasburg was far better as a prospect).
  12. Sano is 14 months younger and played in a full level higher than Bryant touched last year. That's very significant at their respective ages.
  13. Don't think they'd let Colby rip around Central Park on his quad?
  14. Woosh
  15. 41 year old pitchers project to be worse than the previous season? Thanks Tips. Again, who's arguing that he's going to be the same pitcher? If Colon were guaranteed to give a team 8 wins over the next 2 years, he'd justifiably command $60M on the open market. But since he's old as f*** and projects to produce nowhere near that amount, 2/$16M is pretty reasonable. I even agree with you, I don't think I'd want to commit $16M to him either. I would not be surprised if he doesn't put up 2 WAR combined over the next 2 seasons. But you're falsely intimating that he needs to perform like he has in Oakland to justify 2/16. That's wrong.
  16. Until he arbitrarily added "points" to those metrics, rendering the analytics part useless lol. You're probably right though. Through the ********, there are hints of progress with a number of writers. Most at least admit to looking at the numbers and "taking them into account" whereas even 5 years ago most just dismissed them outright.
  17. Another 100 games? Sure why not? Why stop making s*** up on the fly now?
  18. Cross posted but directly relevant here: Ryan (Hanover, PA) How can we change the voting system in baseball to avoid flat out homerism?? PS-The guy who voted Trout #7 should be forced to go on an all McDonald's diet. Klaw (1:09 PM) That would be Bill Ballew, the same guy who IIRC doesn't own a cell phone. I also enjoyed him calling himself a "strict constructionist" while making up his own arbitrary criterion that said a player can't win the award if his team doesn't go to the playoffs. Hey, Bill, strict constructionism means ... pretty much the opposite of what you did.
  19. I will not cheer up!! I'm going to wrap myself up in my Mike Trout poster and weep gently until the enduring embrace of sleep rescues me from our reality.
  20. So if Barry Ruth put up a 21 WAR season for the Astros last year, he can't be considered? Ok great.
  21. "I’m of the school that in order to have “value” you have to help your team be good," Ugh.

    Not enough Intangibillllzz
  23. Actually no, that would unbalance us. Johnson already has too much chin. Out on Colon. Jaysblue was right.
  24. It is good to stay balanced.
  25. Also too much chin. And not enough #800OPSFloor
