It's not about faith in Puig you dummy. It's a lack of faith in Alford. Alford sucks. Alford really, really sucks. Puig does not. There's probably a better chance of Puig putting up 4 WAR than Alford putting up 0.5.

So despite an actual career with success and tools that are undeniably better than Alford's, you can see Alford putting up 2-3 WARz because reasons but can't see Puig putting up better than advertised numbers. Hopefully you can see the little problem there and consider if you're just locked in as a pointless Alford fanboy.

What would that argument for Alford be? That he's fast and black? He does literally nothing well. Puig's argument is that he's already an average player and even if he doesn't unlock that potential, he's still an upgrade. Alford f***ing blows and has no redeeming qualities. The arguments are not equivalent, or even similar.

Oh it's a developmental year. No point in trying to win, then. Puig is almost a 2 win upgrade on Hernandez lol, not sure how that's marginal. There's a lot wrong in here but I think that will suffice.

Puig and Teoscar are not even close, unsure what you're looking at. Puig is projected to be more than a full win better in 50 fewer games. Alford sucks. This team could easily be in the wildcard mix, why waste a 40 man spot on a s***** player like Alford when you could have Puig who still has the potential to throw up a 4 win season one of these days. Given the issues in OF and that our primary DH is slated to be Tellez, Puig fits perfectly on this roster. I'd rather try to win than hope Alford can develop into a non-waste of space. I'm ok with giving Fisher some rope as a bench player because his sample is much smaller but Alford has been failing for literally years.
