    I paid Jason Hammel for him so I'll live But also, by your same rules, Frazier has hit a 157 wRC+ in May. I guess improvements only count for Meadows though.

    He didn't play against blacks, Dominicans, etc. And replacement level was a farmer kid who played baseball between harvests. The level of competition is not comparable. Couple that with the fact that pitchers threw nowhere near as hard as they do today, and I don't really buy in to Ruth being the best ever. For his era, sure.

    Eric Longenhagen said his hands are too noisy and his swing was too eccentric when he scouted him. No also gets the dreaded "he will have to move off short because he will fill out" even though that rarely ever happens. Scouts suck. Stat scout for life.
