  1. Very good point. I think he would make an excellent utility infielder for 2015
  2. This game was fun to watch. I kept expecting the Jays to blow it, but they came through in the end. We are in for some very entertaining baseball when the injured players get back.
  3. Very good points. If the Jays end up anywhere close to a playoff spot, then the lack of additional support to the team will be the key factor. Rogers is making a huge mistake in not supporting the team this year.
  4. Seems contrary to everything the team has said in the past about money being available when the time is right Very true . If this year isn't the right time, then when will it ever be?
  5. Now that you mention it, Rogers investment in hockey may be a factor in reducing the jays budget. hockey revenue may be more certain than baseball. The injuries to the jays over the past two seasons show how easily 15-20 million in payroll can be on the DL for a year.
  6. The Marlins trade was the fastest way to improve the team quickly. I agree that AA's original plan of getting JJ or AS Or JP was more prudent.
  7. If AA is fired by the Jays as a scapegoat, would he ever get another GM Job ?
  8. It could be that Rogers was embarrassed by losing Farrell & knew that they had to make the team competitive quickly. The new revenue sharing agreements cut the Jays out . I think Rogers approved AAs spending spree, but hey are leving him out to dry by not allowing any more spening. Jays need a playoff race desperately this year. It's their best chance.
  9. The Jays would have been better off with Escobar vs Reyes, & the salary savings spent elsewhere
  10. I think that AA should know better since the GM of of the Orioles was the GM of the Expos. AA was an Expos fan at that time. AA should not let himself get outsmarted by the Orioles.
  11. Agreed. It's one thing to lose the division to the Red Sox or Yankees or Rays, but if we lose to the Orioles it would be embarrassing. The Jays need to be in a pennant race this year.
  12. Adding a impact player would help. It would also improve morale of the rest of the team. If Bautista gets frustrated & demands a trade , then AA will be in trouble.
  13. OK, but Rogers will face a backlash if the team is blown up again. Spending an extra 10$ million in 2014 to get qualified replacements for the sick bay is worth it.
  14. I wonder if Rogers has lost faith in AA because we are paying Romero & Morrow 15$ million for no production. Josh Johnson was another case of of 10 million salary for no production. The injuries to the jays players & the amateurish handling of Lind's injury must make Rogers executives pull their hair out. Lind consults his mom for an MRI?
  15. Sadly, we are paying Morrow & Romero 15 million per year combined for nothing.
  16. If that's the case, why was AA given a 3 year window to compete & then the window gets closed after the first year.?
  17. given the injuries this year, he jays need replacements that are not from the waiver wire. The jays can salvage the season with an upgrade infielder & another pitcher.
  18. This is the closest the team has been to a pennant race since 2000. A race would keep tv ratings & attendance strong till October.
  19. Sad but true. I am baffled why AA was not allowed to make upgrades in the off season. AA asking Bautista & a few others to defer payments to pay for Santana's contract was shocking. We will know by the end of July if Rogers changes its mind.
  20. I hope the Jays bring Melky& Colby back. Keep Gose as the 4th OF. I am disappointed that Rogers seems to have cut off AA from making any trades that ass payroll for 2014.
  21. OK, I will try that. I want to contact my rep to make sure its OK to send the kids with my ID.
  22. OK, but I am not a scalper. It is annoying if I am not able to attend games. Let's say I want to send my two teenagers to the game. It looks like I need a new flexcard. Is this flexcard valid for the season or just one game?
  23. I have been a flex pack ticket holder for the past 3 years. I am troubled by the new policy, since I will have to show up with my card at a special gate , provide photo ID to get access to the game. If I don't want to go to the game & give the tickets to friends or family, they need their own flex card for a $5 fee. This is annoying because if you have decide not to attend a game at the last minute, you wouldn't have time to get the flexpack card for your friend. I assume the Jays are trying to cut down on fans reselling flex pack tickets. http://toronto.bluejays.mlb.com/tor/ticketing/flex_pack_card.jsp
  24. I would be happy if the Jays got a reliable starter. The Al east will be a dogfight in 2014. I expect the winner of the AL east to have around 90 wins with everyone in the division above 80 wins. The key for the Jays is to stay healthy. There are no patsies in our division.
  25. McCann of course joins a team that is better than Toronto. So whoever the Jays get to play catcher will not be as good. So they get better than us at catcher no matter what we do. Sure by year 4 they may suffer but by then they'll simply buy someone better. But catcher quality in wins is less important that having 5 quality starters and a first rate bullpen. We need to get the pitching and a solid catcher who makes the pitching better. But the Yankees are also looking for pitching and they have 10 times the money to spend than we do. We'll be lucky to get Scott Kazmir or Bartolo Colon. Good point about McCann. His contract isn't that outrageous giving the new MLB payroll parameters. I wonder if AA will keep JPA & try to upgrade somewhere else.
