I think there's a lot of luck involved with the NFL with the short schedule and one game elimination playoffs. The Giants in 2007 beating one of the best teams ever and last year with Baltimore winning who wasn't nearly an elite team... those are just two examples of the top of my head.
Really the only league out there where luck doesn't play as much of a factor is the NBA.
Not really, there's just as much narrative in Football.
For example, this week they(ESPN) were bashing Romo for throwing a late Int that cost the game when in reality, the cowboys would have been blown-out without him.
