Why? Goins is far superior defensively. The team will have no problem scoring runs. They will be top 2 or 3 in the American League in runs scored. They will have a problem preventing them. Ryan Goins prevents runs.

How many does Kevin Love have? Yeah.. I don't really know. I just watched him last night and he looked incredible. I hardly knew who he was before that.

That's why Toronto needs it's own D-league team. How can you really develop a player the way you want to when 12 or 13 teams are sending guys down also competing for minutes... and all those guys want to get noticed. If you have your own team, you can play within systems that mirror the big team. Toronto really did drop the ball. They could put a D-League team in Hamilton.

The team does not have to make anymore big moves right now... Not second base, not another starter not a big name bullpen arm. They have enough where they should be holding or very close to holding a playoff spot near the trade deadline. You'll have a better idea what you will need by then. Starters could suprise, Devon Travis could prove adequate... and some cheap arms might surprise in the pen.

Escobar sucks. If the value system tells you one thing about a player..... and then the same player gets a standing ovation in celebration of his being traded for a scrub short stop, then maybe the system you are using to evaluate the player isn't painting a whole picture.

And think about this. No other GM even knew Donaldson was available. AA is a very good GM. He has learned a lot as well.

There was NO ONE in the media that was criticizing the trade. Not Keith Law.... NO ONE. There were a few people on the old board. But even then they certainly understood it. Only after Josh Johnson fell apart did the hindsight analysis really begin. People were literally trying to get the trade stopped. That's how bad they though the Marlins were fleeced.
