The Raps could get fairly creative this year. They have a few expiring contracts (Amir @ 7M, Fields @ 6.25, Chuck Hayes @ 6M)
Amir probably doesn't get dealt but you could get a decent player from a team that is rebuilding for Fields + Hayes + a pick.
Obviously bringing back salary long-term for those expirings would almost kill any shot at signing a big time FA though.
Here is the current cap situation:

Yeah that's a 60 win team if JV continued to develop.
There have just been so many rumors about Love and big market clubs though. I dunno.
The thing with Toronto though is that once players actually get here, they love it. So maybe Love WOULD re-sign. He's used to the s***** winters now and probably just wants to win. We have a great fanbase, can offer him big money and the chance to win... We're building a huge new practice facility. It wouldn't be a hard sell.
I don't think we can take the risk though.
I really don't have a huge problem with giving Hendriks a shot. His numbers have been fantastic and he's still young. Why not?
Stroman gets his shot at some point this year. Give him a few more 2-3IP outings to get him acclimated.
I prefer organic growth while freeing up cap space to make a run at Durant.
We're set up nicely for future drafts. Don't ruin that IMO. Too much of a risk. Love seems destined to be in NY, Chicago, LA, etc.
JFaS consistently uses small samples to back up his points relating to Santos as well.
Anyways, it's pointless to debate this any longer. Nothing good can come of it. I hope Santos comes back and lives up to the hype but I won't hold my breath.
We debate this almost daily now. Neither side will bend.
Casey has consistently gotten results while Santos is consistently imploding or rotting on the DL. You favour Santos' pure stuff while I favour Casey's ability to actually throw strikes.
Let's just agree to disagree.
Santos might never pitch in the majors again.
Janssen has consistently outperformed the advanced metrics for 4 straight seasons.
It's pointless to debate when one guy can't even pitch any longer.
Free agent in one year who wants to play in a huge market.
We'd have to give up Ross + 1st rounders and we'd have a very small chance of re-signing him.
Pass.
